I got a call from someone who lives next to a open field full of weeds They said the land owner will let them park cars for a party of about 30 cars. Problem is the field is full of weeds. I got a call to just cut enough weeds for the cars to park. When I cut the parking area, there were a lot of weeds still standing it looked like a bad hair cut. I finished cutting the whole field. It looked real good when I finished. I like my flail mower it chops the weeds, then flattens them.Problem now is the land owner will not need to cut his field in a month or so, because I just did it for 1/2 the price. That's fine with me, you can't buy a good reputation. Stan

Sometimes what you believe is a good neighborly deed isn't really accepted that way. Years ago we had new people buy a small parcel next to us--a recreational property. We met them, and though they were pretty much city people, we were quite friendly with them. As I was mowing hay next to them, I took the opportunity to mow their lot also. Next weekend I was confronted by them, and while not in a hostile manner, they let me know that they did not approve. They wanted it to grow up freely and "see what grows there." They were "nature" people. So, that was the last time I did anything like that to be neighborly without getting consent first.

Local cop here got to chasing a kid on a dirt bike. The kid took off across a cut field, and the cop followed him about as far as he dared. He then got out of his car, and using some binoculars, coordinated some other cops on the other side of a hill who were also assigned to catching this kid. He started to smell smoke, and turned around to find his squad car fully enveloped in flame from the grass underneath.....

And if you had an agreement with the previous owner, it's your fault, for not knowing it was sold, and for not contacting them to see if they wanted to continue the agreement or not.

Got chewed out one day at the old job. We didn't know a house had been sold on the edge of a field. We farmed in front of it up to a certain terrace. They watched us cut wheat, then when I was ripping terrace channels one of them came out and started in on me.

Told him I'm not the one to talk to, all I could do was tell the boss he wanted to talk to him. Wanted to tell him I'm not the nitwit that expected the neighboring renter to know I wanted to change the agreement that was had with the previous owner, and sat there watching the neighboring renter cut wheat without flagging him down.

But he did have Colorado plates, which around here is like a flashing "nitwit alert" sign.

That's a mighty big loop you're throwing there, sonny! BUT , I just consider the source: another 'flat lander'.

You are right Stan you can't buy a good reputation. People passing by don't know what kind of deal you had with the owner they'll just see a half done job. I always do a good "finished" job it's the best advertisement you can have.
