Coating for galvanized quonset roof?

I priced foam coating the exterior of the 40 x 60 shop-gasp! 12 grand, but would stop present leaks and be a good insulation.

But now I am getting leaks at the flat bolted joint in the center. Some years ago, I safely walked the center and smeared some rubber goo on a couple of leaks, but now I am getting several leaks.

So is there some sticky stuff I can roller on that galvanized steel that would seal but not necessarily insulate? Leo

I got a asphalt fiber coat aluminium paint that I have used for bins and shed roofs that works real well. It came in 55 gallon drums and had to been contantly stirred. It may come in 5 gallon buckets. I don't know what the current price would be? It is good.

Can you roll a rubber roof coating on. they are not cheap either. Dad was complianing about the cost of it. Don't recall what he said it
cost though.

There that stuff you can mop on they put on mobile home tin roofs. You can get it at lowes or home depot. Cant think
of the name of it right off but comes in a 5 gallon bucket . Cool Seal is the name i think.

The experience I have in paint industry the fiber aluminum paint is made for mobile homes and any heavy metal buildings such as grain bins, mobile homes and corrugated metal roofs.

Always used the fibre aluminum roof coating here. Would pour it into metal 5 Gal. buckets, 1/2 full,
and set it on a campfire. Stirred it, it went on easy. Use two buckets, one heating, one applying.

I am a fan of asphalt-based roof paint BUT not with fiber. The only way I have been able to find it is from a roof'N buddy. The issue I have had with the fibber is it will crack and peel up then water gets under it...

On my Hut I had my roof'N buds crew tighten up all the bolts it stopped what leaks I had... A tree fell on it they also did a good job of jacking the damage out..

I use to paint one of my tin roofs myself it took 10 gal @ a cost of $100 and a days work. I ask my bud (I got the paint from him) to do it he charged $150 material and labor. My job would last for 5 years his would ware off in a year so I questioned him about it, he said it only took 5 gal of paint. Now how could they do it with only 5 gal and the job not hold up, they thinned there job down with gas

Thats whats used around here. Available in 5 gallon buckets for sure. You get a joint compound mixer (heavy duty paint mixer) and a 1/2 drill and that will keep it stirred good. Goes on blackish-gold, dries to a dull silver.

I got some white, latex, I believe, coating for a travel trailer once. I think that the heavy asphalt stuff dries and shrinks and cracks after a few years, then anything that you put on over it will open up in the same crack in another year.
