(quoted from post at 07:26:09 04/12/16) Ever notice how everyone sees the other folks as the freeloaders? Young people think it is the old people, farmers think it is the bankers, bankers think it is the farmers, workers think it is the people that shipped their jobs overseas, business people think it is the welfare cheats. Tax payers think it is the special interest loophole users.
If only everyone was as honest and hard working as you and me!
(quoted from post at 08:26:20 04/12/16) Anyone ever try to decline the government payments/programs? I tried.
I only had about 80 acres of row crop when I quit farming and went to just hay/recreation/hunting ground.
I would get something like $300 in "defeciency payments" This was 8 or 10 years ago.
So when they started the program where you had to sign a form agreeing to let the IRS have access to your info, I told them I wanted out. Didn't want or need the $300. I couldn't decline. If I didn't sign into the program, it would throw my tennent farm out of the program also, and he needed it.
So they trap you in.

Depending on the situation you can opt out. I told em where to stick it before I went into full retirement last year.

You're right. I opted out of payments on my farm but I still have to give them my information. They said it was for the next owner after I die??? My wife has a farm that she rents out cash rent and she opted out of payments but the renter still gets his.
(quoted from post at 18:58:29 04/12/16) I don't really think my food is that cheap, but I really think my taxes are very high.
(quoted from post at 06:03:34 04/12/16) So now the USDA knows what prices will be in 2025 they cant even be sure of diesel fuel 6 months from now and with EPA at the rate we are going by 2025 wont even be able to buy seed or fertilizer.
