carpenture bees

if you mean a trap, there are some for sale on craigslist. About $12--15. I think is is a guy in N.Carolina that is always advertising them under farm and garden. If you cant find it try searchtempest, which searches all of craigslist, ebay, and amazon.

Treat the holes with insecticide dust. May have to check several times over the summer for new holes being started.

I made 2 traps last year after the decline of 'bee season'-after they were less active.I caught a couple of the bees though, and am curious how well they will work this year.I also calked up their holes in my barn. They were very simple to make, just using scrap board and a mason jar.I think I googled bee trap for the plans.Mark

A good repellant [well good for a couple of years] is to spray the wood with boron. I learned this from someone who mixes boron with house stain in low concentrations. It doesn't discolor the wood and will keep the pests at bay for a few years. I can attest to it working. Every few years I mix plain old 20 mule team borax with water in a sprayer and douse the exposed wood on the shop. I do take care to use a respirator to avoid breathing it in because I have no clue about respiratory toxicity to me. A rain coat as well to avoid direct skin contact. I offer this as personal experience and in no way assume any liability. Just saying.

Look up carpenter bee traps on the internet. They are cheap and easy to build. I was late building them last year and didn't catch many. I put out 2 new ones two weeks ago and have maybe 10 in each trap. I think they do better,if you hang them on a south side of a building. Bees seem to be moore active on the sunny spots. Tommy
