I hate doing things twice

I have a Dandle flail mower, which is no longer made. Not much available anymore. Most stuff is available, like bearings, belts, form suppliers. I found the gear box is the same as the Ford flail mower. When I buy blades I go for the best buy. I bought 100 blades, installed them. Then I found out they are 1/4 inch too long, and hit the frame. So I removed all 100 of them and cut off 1/4 inch. Tomorrow I can reinstall them again. I bet I am not the only one to do things twice. What's old the saying? Not enough time to do it right, but always enough time to do it over. Stan

Sorry for my ignorance on how you would do that, but someday I would like to build a flail mower, so I would like to know more details on how you shortened them. I can see that issue might come up. Thanks.

Hello 37chief,

Here is how I remember it:

There is always enough time to do it right the second time,

Guido.

According to my third grade teacher Ms Wand. " If you haven't got time to do it right the first time, how are you going to find the time to do it over." Wonder who she was referring to. That was about 60 years ago, didn't really care for Ms Wand but never forgot that sermon. Now what did I have for breakfast? I forgot.

I saw that saying years ago, posted on the wall of a local repair shop, and it always stuck with me. I always tried to work with that attitude. Got chewed out a few times for being slow, but never had many come-backs!
