Speaking of Belts...

Anyone have a source for a belt that will hold up? I've tried several, Walmart, Dickies, none seem to last. The one I have now is a Dickies, best work belt they had, maybe 9 months old, the black is peeling off, the hole is wearing out...

Not looking for anything fancy, or to hold a tool belt. Just something that will hold my pants up! LOL

If you think those brands are bad, buy some of the belts that they sell at flea markets. Some might even last for a second wearing!

Well I was just going to suggest the real guanine leather belts the vendors sell at Canton Texas flea market. They are pricey but seem to last forever. So not all flea market ones are bad.

My belts keep running out of holes. The tongue end looks like the growth rings on a southern pine.

Bought my black real leather belt at the local goodwill several years ago. It was old when I bought it for $2.00. It is still holding up well and expect it to last a very long time yet. Hard to beat an old belt.

I've seen some great simple-leather belts at tables of gun-leather sellers at gunshows, but they aren't cheap, and you'd have to go to a gunshow to get one.

I watch around at tractor & car shows and every once in a while you find a guy sell the heavy one piece leather belts that are not cheap but last for years. Some of these guys cut and fit the belt to you .

How about suspenders? Got a nice pair on Amazon that hook right in the belt loop with a regular snap you can also get loops that go on the belt then snap together.
I picked suspenders because the one arm is still in a sling and weak I've also starting to loose weight and you know how hard it is to get your pants up one handed much less keep them there? I'm sure the neighborhood appreciated me getting them I probably should have asked for donations.

I wear a gun belt, double layer stitched etc.

It is over 10 years old doing fine.

The military style shown above is good to.

Look at Dillon Precision

Often at flea markets there is a guy selling ,quality belts, often he is a leather worker selling belts he made. I got a buffalo hide belt at the flea market recently, a little wide but good tough leather. Of course, there is also the vendors selling import belts which don't impress me.

Bull neck strap works for me for 30 plus years. Here is an example

A.E. Nelson Leather Company, Scio, Oregon. Hand made in Oregon. Good heavy belts and a very reasonable price. They are made to be gun belts, but they work excellent as a heavy work belt.

I got my real leather one 22 months ago at the Rough and Tumble meet at Kinzers PA. There was an Amish family there that made them. It looks like it will last 10 years.

I bought my last one many years ago at a gun show. There was a fellow there that made them. Real leather. I'm in Amish country too so I'm sure some of them make real leather belts too.

I bought a stretchy one at the flea market in AZ last winter, I like it so well I'm going to buy another next winter, the buckle pin can go through anywhere and it's holding up real well. Perfect for an old guy with no butt anymore!

agree on a gun store, real western store, or a Harley shop.
I have a couple belts I got at a Harley shop in the 70's, not straight anymore, and a bit worn, but still work.
Everyday use, as I don't own any 'dress' clothes.

One piece solid leather with no stitching. The cheap thick looking ones are filled with paper to bulk them up, and last about two months.

Milt Sparks gun belts. They are custom made and cut on a curve so they are comfortable the first time on. Most belts start off straight and acquire a curve as they are worn. This strains the stitching and the leather on the bottom of the curve and that's where things usually start to fall apart.

Buy mine from the local Mennonite leather shop. The last belt wore out 2 belt buckles.

I'm a big guy, and the only belts that last for me are Boston Leather. I buy them at a local Military Surplus/Police Supply store. Mine has lasted 5 or 6 years, while the chain store ones are good for about 6 months at besr.

My Dad got me one of these. I turn 40 this year and I doubt I will ever need to buy another one.
