Credit Card Compromised

I have a businesses address My buds are always having stuff they order shipped to me they always inform me to expect a package they ordered. Before I move on with this post this package is wrapped with tape that reads SCURRILITY SEAL so I let it set for 3 days before I open it up because no one had called to claim it.

I received a big package from Best Buy the in-closed package slip was hard to read there printer was low on ink. I call my son and ask him if he had ordered anything and had it shipped to me he said no (he never tells me to expect anything I have to guess he had it sent to me). I made out the order number on the slip and went to BB web site and pulled up the original order. It had been charged to one of my credit cards so called my CC co and told them I did not order anything from BB. They informed me two drones were ordered on my card. Who ever compromised my card ordered two $700 drones and had one shipped to me.

I called BB and did my best to explain I had a drone I did not order and another that was charged to my CC I wanted to know were it was shipped to. I don't know were the gal on the other end was from but I could not understand her and asked for someone I can understand but not good (it only took 30 min.). She tells me the one that was shipped to me show's its never been deliver and the other has not been deliver either. She refuses to tell me were the other drone was shipped, She then hangs up.

So that's were I am at It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Phone calls do not work. to contest these charges, you need to write a letter to your credit card company with all the details, copy of your statement, invoices, etc.

This is the third time this has happen to me ( second time this year). One call to the CC co and then fill out the paper work they sent me it was a done deal.... Except waiting for the new card to arrive, I buy all my gas with this card it has a 5% "NOT 5 Cents" per gal discount/rebate :D

Have one of the credit reporting agencys put a fraud alert in your file. will take care of future problems

If i got that kind of service from someone at a credit card company and i had one of there cards . I would get deal
handled then cancel the card . I have had that done to me also but i got alot better responce from the credit card
company when i called. It sucks either way. But i think thats just how its going to be for now on.

It happens, I happened to check my bank account one day and found a charge from Amazon that had just landed. Within an hour I was at the bank on business anyway and reported the fraudulent charge. They had to cancel my card and issue me another one. They credited my account and sent the charge back to amazon.

Hobo, in addition to fighting it out with the CC co. there are two other places you can contact, the Better Business Bureau, and the Attorney Generals Office. The Attorney General's office loves to get cases like that.

Hmm. So you have ordered stuff online from Best Buy in the past? Did they already have your credit card on file? I ask this because you say you "went to BB web site and pulled up the original order". If that's the case, it sounds like whoever placed the order guessed your account name and password; they wouldn't need your actual credit card number in this case. But if you've never bought anything online from Best Buy, then somebody has your credit card information.

You already notified Best Buy that you didn't place the order. Forget about dealing with them any further. Call your credit card company's fraud line NOW and explain the situation. Chances are they'll block your card and issue a new one.

You aren't responsible for fraudulent use of your credit card number, as long as you report the incident promptly to your credit card company. You may have to return the item you received, but don't do anything until you've talked to your credit card issuer.

Same thing with my card or very close. My cc company sent me a message asking if I had bought 3 items. NO I did not, around $600.00 at a shoe store and Verizon. No problem, they fixed it on the spot. Got a new card coming.

I think not many people shop at Best Buy anymore, so they must be desperate for some business. I think the last time I was in Best Buy was at least 25 years ago. I have no intention of going back there.

There are a lot of places I wouldn't use a CC at, especially at restaurants where there could be extra charges to your CC before you get back to your car!

Amazon charges stuff to your credit card with asking you. They charged 160 bucks to my account for amazon prime. I didn't order it. They said I was offered this service and didn't decline it ,so I was charged.

Never had any dealings with BB I went into there site as a guest all I needed was the order # my last name and phone # to pull this up.

The last time someone stole my card I had no issues with the CC co. At that time When I went thru the charges on the card with the CC Rep he asked if used my card at a AAMCO transmission shop in Fla. I said no. I got a call this week from MAKCO transmissions about the charge back I did buy some parts from them and it so happen the day before they called I had placed a order but used Paypal to pay for it. I did all I could right then to call the CC and confirm I DID make that purchase. Since then I wright down all the transactions I do with a CC of any kind. I have been on the other side of this and know how frustrating this can be. As a merchant you have X amount of time to contest a charge back are you have no recourse.

I got a new computer this year It makes me wonder if its being tracked I know google is tracking it.

Hobo, that's how they can afford the 5% discount. I have a credit card thru my insurance company and the two times I called them, I talked to a Southern gal in Georgia that was as polite as anyone you'd meet. I do get a 1% 'reward' from them.

I have had several occasions with my credit card so now everything I can I do thru PayPal. No hassle especially if you have a complaint with the selling company. Paypal is on your side and gives credit immediately and then fights the good fight for you.
