Hayrake Speed Question

Two almost identical NH 256 ground driven rakes both being pulled 4MPH rake #1 has 30 inch diameter tires measured outside to outside and rake #2 has 26 inch tires measured outside to outside.
Will the reel turn faster on #1 rake or #2 rake or will the reel turn the same on both?

Assuming that the drive systems are the same, rake #1 will turn slower. In order to turn 1 revolution, the wheel has to travel 94.2"but rake #2 with the smaller diameter wheel accomplishes the same revolution in 81.7". So, if the relationship from the wheels inwards are the same, rake #2 will turn faster.

OOOPs. I read your comment as related to the ground speed but on reread it looks like you're referring to the drive line. My apologies. Read fast; typed faster.

So, if identical drive lines with the only variant being the tire diameter, I stand by my original calcs.

Sorry.

A smaller wheel makes more revolutions to go the same distance as a larger wheel, so the rake will make more revs too.

Thanks for the answers confirms what I thought I was seeing with my rakes.I've been using the rake with the smaller tires and just got this other NH rake with larger tires same gearboxes on both and it seemed to me the reel was turning slower.I have to replace the tires anyway so I'm going with the size I have on my original rake.
