Anyone use hay exchange?

I thought I heard about that site on this one. Had anyone here used hay exchange? The prices aroundwe'lle have tanked (less than $40/ton for first crop, and not much more for second/third) and I'm looking for a way to get a better price by sending it where it's needed if it's feasible.

We've got a number of 3x3 big squares which should be atleast a semi load, and 40 or 50 4x4 rounds, as well as a barn full of small squares.

Where has the drought hit the hardest this year?

I've used it with some success. Very very dry here in NNY but I
still don't seem to be moving hay. There's not going to be any
second cut to speak of and the pastures are burnt up bad. I
haven't mowed my lawn in a month.

I put an ad on there a few years ago and
didn't get one call. I only do 40ish acres
though. The big guys might be looking for
more tonnage than I can provide. I've had
the best luck with Craigslist and local
papers. I've had more phone calls for hay in
the last 2 weeks than all of last year. I
think it's about to get expensive in
Michigan. First cutting was great, not so
much since.

Won't be much second cut here either. There will most likely be a big demand for hay come spring when everyone that has animals to feed runs out of their own. If you can hold off till then, the price should be better to good for selling.

We got a very good first cutting here in ky. probably won't get a second cutting too
much humidity, but should have good pasture.

Locally produced small squares would be going for $6.00 to $8.00 here in NH if there was any. Our imported hay usually comes out of Quebec or NY but I understand that they are pretty dry there as well. Judging from past years, come Feb. hay will top $12.00 at the feed stores.

I used it years ago. Sold a couple semi truck loads. I dont use them anymore as I have enough local folks that keep
coming back. Never had a problem..

My neighbor did about 5 years ago. It worked ok, but Craigslist actually seemed to produce more buyers. I live in MN, but prospective buyers in
the Missouri area were using our local Craigslist sites to find and buy hay here and haul back to Missouri. He sold two or three semi loads.
