Take a look at these, and tell me what you think.

Went to equipment consignment auction, at the local Auction Barn last evening . Bought these Army surplus truck platforms , all steel , check plate top, 16 feet long, paid $2,300.00 for the three. Or $733.00 each. Going to put them on some old running gears I have. So what do you fellas think, good value for the $$ , or did I get "auction fever" . Bruce

Must be the Canadian dollar conversion, here in the US that would be $766 each.

I had $750 in the rough sawn ash wood to make two wagon racks. Those are already assembled and made of steel, so YES, Great Deal!

When I buy multiple items that are duplicates. I use what I need then sell the rest and most often break even or profit from them. Then you can say you got yours for nothing.

They certainly look sturdy, Bruce--when you say you're going to put them on old running gears I gather you're planning on making hay wagons of them? I remember one hay wagon on the farm growing up that Gramp had put a sheet of flat steel in the middle of the bed to cover some soft spots. You had to be careful going up and down hills or you'd take a ride when you hit that section! Got chased off the wagon a few times by bales stacked on it that slid toward me on a steep hill.

I've bought flatbeds cheaper but they don't come up often, like a once every 2 or 3 years thing and takes a lot of Kijiji trolling. I'd say you did well!

You did very well on that purchase. This summer I made a 8X16 flatrack without a back out of 2" lumber from the lumber yard for a twitch over $500 US.

You can be sure they are made twice as strong as necessary. Just think if you were to buy the material, and the hours needed to make the beds. It would be a lot of money, and time. Stan
