picker advice

As some of you may remember last summer I bought a mounted Oliver picker well we had to take it into halves to load it and haul it well I haven't had a whole lot of time to mess
with it til now and were struggling to get it all figured out how it goes and once its together I'm not sure what will need done to it to get it to work right and within the next two weeks
we'll be getting into cutting beans at work and I'll lose my time to work on it. I've seen on Craigslist I can get a single row pull type that is field ready for around 700-1000 bucks
should I maybe just try and get one of these for this year? I always figure I could sell it for what I paid for it. Now I don't have my own corn to pick but a friend of mine agreed to let
me pick some of his if he got to run it. Would you guys keep with the one I have or buy one and save the other as a project? I appreciate all opinions thank you

I would rather have a one row pull type, if I was just going to
Take it to shows and pick a few loads. But I'm glad you want to save the mounted one.

You are going to spend up to $1000 for the privilege of picking your friends corn? I think I would re-evaluate your friendship and tell him he can buy his own picker and then he can use it all he wants.

I've been wanting to pick corn for awhile but don't have any to pick he just offered to let me pick some of his so I could

Go ahead and buy one. I've had two of those number 4s. It's always going to be a "project".

Thanks for the input and I appreciate the offer but I'm a little to far away I'll try and post an update on what I decide to do
