New old tractor I.D

Dirt road

New User
New to this forum just got a old tractor ford?? 8n or 9n
Motor has 9n but everything else stamped in castings say 8n.
Runs great want to buy parts but for what tractor.
I'm tractor stupid I've restored old skidoo from the 60's.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Sounds like an 8n with a 9n engine.
Transmission a 3 speed or 4 speed?
Most engine parts will be the same as a
2n or 8n with front mount distributor.
More knowledgeable guys will certainly
give ya more info.

You should try a resto on an old Arctic
Cat! ;)

welcome, admitting to being new and needing a tractor identified, you'll have to know that the site has a new user restriction for posting pictures. Can email them at support at ytmag (dot) com to ask for permission(some might suggest posting down on "site comments), but to prevent spammers from getting smart I would suggest email.

Go to John Smith's site, oldfordtractors.com. You'll learn nearly anything you want to know.

As said probably an 8n with 9n engine. If you want to send me a couple of photos I'll tell you what you have. Email is open

Funny you should say that I live in Kansas and I bought a old John deer cyclone snowmobile today for $50 and I drove it when I got it home.

Thanks for the help after more looking all parts have 8n except motor. Also it has a 3 speed with starter button near gear shifter.I've been looking at old pictures and it looks like a 9n dash style. Has a badge spot for Massey on grill of tractor. I'll post picture tomorrow.

(quoted from post at 18:39:22 09/16/16) Those *N series fords had a lot of interchangeable parts. Post some pics so we can help id it.

Thanks here's some picture of tractor and serial number and rear axle with 8 n on it. It has a 3 speed with push button for starter on near shifter. I think it's a 9n

If a 3 speed it would be either a 9 or 2N. Now the 9N the doglegs of the hood were fastened with hidden bolts, no bolts showing in dog legs. Now the 2N and also the 8N had the hood mounting bolts in the dog legs easly seen.
