New Cell phone

My wife wants a new cell phone for Christmas. We have our service at AT&T. We currently have Apple 4G phones. Talked to the folks at AT&T and new phone was $700. Wow!!!

Can we buy a phone somewhere else and it be used with our AT&T service. I don't know much about phones.

What kind do you recommend. Thanks in advance.

You can buy "unlooked" phones that will work on any system. A place to check are the repair stores like in a shopping center. They wheel and deal all of the time and have some very good prices on phones people sell when they up grade.

i just bought a NEW unused samsung s6 active on ebay $318. out of date phone as the new ones are s7. it is a deticated ATT phone, they dont sell them anymore. could do same thing with iphone, just make sure its new, unused. first one i got was new-other, meaning it looked like new, but had a problem in the operating system, had to send back. make sure it has a money back garentee. take your phone to ATT and they set it up for you, no charge, trasfer pictures etc.

I bought a unlocked cell phone at Best Buy. Much easier to get one for ATT who uses a gsm network, then Verizon who uses cdma.

QUIT trying to keep up/quit drinking the $$$$ cellphone Koolaide and decide if your wife needs a phone that's a status symbol, or a simple phone that will allow her to communicate as needed.

Should be able to get the "communicate" thing done for a hundred bucks or less.

How much phone do you need? My wife has a smart phone from Straight Talk at Wal-Mart for $69. Monthly fee is $45 unlimited time and text. Phone is pretty neat... you can talk to it, not type, and it gives you your answer. Does lots more than my big laptop. Course you can google like a laptop also on the phone. Don't know what else you need.

Go shopping today and see if Black Friday deals are still out there. We upgraded two phones and one tablet on Friday, monthly bill went down by $15. We got Samsung S7 phones and a 10" tablet. This was at Verizon.

I buy new smart phones on ebay for about $60. I use mine on wi-fi but I think if you take it to AT&T you can have it activated for your service.

I've got an iPhone for work but wife wants a Smartphone too. She went to the ATT store (we've had them forever) over the weekend and found the same thing: $700. :shock: It used to be that you could upgrade every so often and get a deal on the phone. According to ATT, not anymore. :roll: Anyway, our kids have all gone to Samsung smartphones. From what I've seen, they're better than iPhones.

Your wife WANTS a NEW cell phone. Will she accept a slightly used phone? If so, go to your local craigslist.org for your location and simply search on "ATT phone". There will be hundreds of ads. If she absolutely has to have new, then you can get one through many retailers. WalMart for example at $150 delivered to your door:

As for what I recommend, I would say get anything that is Android compliant and don't over-pay for Apple products.

I dont know if i would buy a phone off craigslist . Only reason to start is no Warranty. And your possibly buying someone else problems. If you go thru AT@T you can get a good phone. It dont have to be a 700.00 phone to be a good phone.
