OK Who is good with volumes. I have four tubes (round culvert) 18" across by 48" long that I want to fill with cement. How much cement do I need to fill all four tubes. Thanks Gerald

I figure 1.02 yard.

I also got just over 1 yard. pi R squared for area (in feet) = .75*.75 x 3.14 = .5625 x 3.14 = 1.77 sq. ft. x 4 feet long = 7.06 cu. ft. per tube x 4 tubes = 28.26 sq. ft. / 27 cu. ft per cu. yard = 1.05 cubic yards.

All 4 should hold a total of 28,26 cu.ft., just over a yard. Hope you plan to mix your own. It will cost you big time to have a bit over a yard delivered.

I get 7.08 cubic feet per tube and there is .60 cubic feet in a 80 pound bag of cement. With four tubes being 28.32 cubic feet I get 47.2 bags. I would get 49 or 50 bags if it were me. You sure don't want to run out on the last tube.

Know anybody that works at the redi mix plant? If you are not in a hurry you might be able to get them filled with the returns. Some places pour retaining blocks with the leftovers, some just dump it.

That would be pretty darn expensive to let them come out with a truck for such a small amount!

A place opened up just down the road from the quarry, that has a miniature redimix truck on a six wheel truck for small jobs. They have small material bins small loader and small mixer plant.

May be expensive to order just 1 yd, but you can order 10% extra for peanuts, because you're paying for the delivery mostly and the if access is good and set up for the pour, be done and outta there in just over an hour. Handling 50, 70lb bags at least twice, never minding mixing if you don't have a mixer, will make $600 seem cheap, especially if you rarely do this type of work. Renting a mixer is OK, but costs and requires time too (at how many $s?). If you got time, well ...
