Tachometer repair

I have a tractor tachometer that needs to get checked out along with needing a new tachometer cable, etc. Per a phone call to the FL vendor listed in Red Power magazine that phone number 'has been disconnected or no longer in service'. Has anyone used another company recently with satisfactory results? From a no answer it appears the one in the greater St. Louis area is also no longer in business.

You might try Hemmings Classic car magazine. There are a couple of vendors in there.

My sil just got a new tach for a 584 international on the internet. The old cable broke so he ordered a new cable,then became suspicious as to why the cable broke..the tach gears were seized and rusted ! Had we known that could happen , we could have sprayed some lubricant on them. The cable was $14 and the tach was $31.

I called and talked to Star Speedo yesterday at the number that was listed in the earlier response. I have two Farmall tachs I'm going to send them in the next few days and see how they turn out. I told him what was wrong and he quoted me a price for each and about a 2 wk turn around. In the past I have been using Abbott Enterprises in Pine Bluff, AR but the last one a year ago took about 2 months to get back. They were NEVER that slow before! I have had them do at least 6 tachs for me previously. Metro as was mentioned is good as well, have friends who have used them.

Mine was a mechanical tach and I used Bob's Speedometer, 800 592-9673. Not the cheapest place I priced, but dang good work and turnaround was < 6 days.... Give him a call and see what you two can work out.

I contacted him and his reply was ". . .Aftermarket replacements for these are readily available from numerous sources, at prices that are substantially less than what it would cost to repair/restore the OEM originals. A quick Google search . . ." I am still deciding the 'message' in that reply.
