Mitas Tires

Bought a new John Deere 7230R this week. It has MITAS tires on it. Anybody know anything about these? Good or bad? They are made in Charles City, Ia, which I am glad to see. Just never heard of them before. Hopefully I have good luck with them, if not, they will be expensive to replace.

I haven't been impressed with mine on the 886. I think they wear pretty fast but worse than that they are splitting like crazy. Not weather checking. I'm talking random slices in the tires on the case portion not the lugs. The splits are usually a couple inches long. They have slowly appeared on both tires over the years. They are mainly parallel to the direction of travel and are a clean split like a deep slash. The tires have held up well against stubble damage and I've never had any random object punctures. I'm just not a fan of them, unfortunately.

I have Mitas tires on a tractor I bought a year ago. I won't say that they would have been my first choice, but I haven't had any problems yet.

It depends on how old the Mitas tires are. Yours where more than likely made in Charles City Iowa. I have two sets that are 3-4 years old and they have been good so far. I know they were made in Iowa. I had a set 8-9 years ago that where imported. They did not last 3 years and the side walls cracked.

Have mitas on my loader tractor, mfd, been great so far, got about 2000hrs on them now, no wear to talk of, but very few highway miles... They do have great soil moving ability, sank the tractor a couple of times now, and once they start digging you'd better hope they find something solid quickly.

Put a new set of 800's on my combine 4 years ago and I am very happy so far. Minimal stubble wear and very little road wear and it sees a lot of road travel.
