B275 International Harvestor

Runs fine, PTO works, reverse works etc.
However when I put it in reverse and start blowing heavy snow the tractor stalls.

Need help in understanding why.

Most likely the reverse gear has too high a ground speed. This forces too much snow into the blower at once. That engine is not
extremely powerful, so two solutions: get a more powerful tractor, or get out and blow the snow as it comes down. Jim

You are in low range reverse right?

That gear is good and slow on those British IHs

You may need to clutch when the blower loads heavily to allow it to clear (do not ride clutch)

I ran a 78" on a 35 PTO HP tractor and heavy snow would lug it down to stalling if I didn't push the clutch in.

They do not have much power when new. A snow blower requires a good power source to run it properly. A snow blower of the right size for the little British tractor would not make a path wide enough for the tractor.

I have a six foot rear snowblower on my B275 and it handles it fine in reverse, low-range. I would not even consider trying in high range. Are you in reverse-
low or reverse-high? Also, how big is the snowblower?

That is nonsense. I have been using a 6 foot snowblower on my B275 for 20 years and it works fine.

I am in Toronto, Tractor is in Wiarton Ontario. I could have sworn I was set to the low grear range. Failing this I will have to reach out to a tractor mechanic as I am at a loss.

Thank you all for your response. I nice to see so many people enjoying the same hobbies as me.

BTW: The tractor had not run for years when I bought it. New Carb, new coil, new starter solenoid, new gas pump and rebuilt distributor did the trick.

My B275 is a diesel. Your gas version has more 3 more horsepower the the diesel. Ought to run a 6 foot snowblower fine asuming were are not talking three feet
deep of snow. If so, you have to take "half bites" and several runs over it.

I will be north this weekend and ensure that I am in the low gear range when in reverse. If I am, I will need to consult a mechanic.
