The wind...

...won.

Around 4:20 the power went out. Drove out to the farm. Fired up the 4 wheeler and
headed back to get the genny. Now it's roaring away and I am back in business. Hope
they get us turned back on soon. Dang nuisance. :(

I had to fire up the 20KW winpower this morning at 5:30. Took them an hour and a half to get the power back on. The only tractor I had available was the John Deere 60. It has plenty of power, but the lights flicker when I run it on a two cylinder tractor. I'd rather run it on the 4430, even though it's way too much HP. At least the lights don't flicker. I don't have a tractor smaller that isn't a two banger.

I live west of Kalamazoo and have a friend without power who lives closer to there and said that there isn't a motel room to be had in or around the Kalamazoo area.

From the clock on the stove, ours was out at home for six hours and seven minutes today. We did not lose power at work today, which is good, because we make the power! Did see some true eight to ten footers on the Lake this afternoon.

I'm tired of it already. I literally ran all day long, from my truck to my tool box to get my saw and cut trees off the roads. No break, no lunch, ran a little more than a gallon of gas through my saw in 12 hours, drove about 175 miles in my territory from tree to tree, and back again. At one point, I cut a tree, moved ahead about 300 feet to the next one, and as I was finishing that one up, I looked up the road, and saw that another had just fell where I had just cleaned up the other one. Round and round like that all day. Saw lots of power poles snapped off, and lots of wires down, cross arms broke off, etc. Hope you get your power back on soon Dave. I should probably go to bed, I'm sure to be called in tonight.

I drove over to Fenton this morning to have breakfast with the seniles at Mega Coney Island and the wife called me around noon on my way home after stopping at Costco in Brighton to tell me the power was out. Had to drive to Farmington Hills to clean Church (which had not lost power) and when we got home around 8:15 pm the power was on. When I called in and reported the outage, the estimate for restoration was Saturday afternoon. This is much better...Now I have to put the generator away...

mine was out about a week ago for twenty five hours .when i opened up my electric box it had alot of water inside it where the wind blew it in through a tiny crack could a been really bad but some of the cry babys on here didnt think it was a big deal.

We truck with 53 foot dry van trailers. We had a lot of nervous drivers in that wind. Two of my guys saw trailers in front of them flip on their side from the wind. There was one a mile from our yard that flipped at 6 in the am. A lot of the drivers saw that on their way in to work. We survived without an accident. Thanks be to God.

I'm the only one in my area with a problem. I have one wire hanging free at the transformer on my property. Have one leg hot to the house but no well, furnace or stove. Looks like I'll be on the gen. for a while. At least I can stay warm with electric space heaters. Only need the gen. for the well. Don't mind eating out for a while.

K Effective,

"Below the pinky finger of the mitten"??? I would say so, as in way, way, way below! I thought it meant you where up around the Traverse City area. I'm half way between Kalamazoo and the lake. Maybe I'll bump into you some time. You'll know it's me because I'll be wearing a Blue or green work shirt over a green tee shirt with worn blue jeans and steel toed work boots. It's sort of my uniform. I wear it all the time excepting for when in church of course. You know Michigan is well represented on this forum maybe some one should organize a meet and greet for us like they did in Illinois. Just a thought. JD

Well, Below the Pinky Finger was easier to describe than "at the wrist, opposite of the thumb side of the Mitten...".

Yes, I would like to meet some of the other fellows from the area, I know several of the more prolific posters get together in more central MI for a couple of tractor shows.

I just looked up the YT members map (https://www.zeemaps.com/map?group=1856438), and see that you are on it, as am I. There are a few new pins near us since the last time I looked, and more posters that are not on the map.

I am south of you, just north of Allen red. We called consumers, and they are saying Sunday before we get power back. Really glad we have a good genny.
