Bale elevator

Can anyone let me know what size motor and pulley I will need for this elevator? It has 2 sections 16 foot long. Also if anyone could identify it and a link to a manual that would be great. It has a sticker on it saying Compton, IL. I think it is a balevator or hayevator.

a 3/4 hp farm duty (sealed against dust) motor would probably do it. as for the belt, put the motor on, run a piece of baler twine betwee the two pulleys, measure it and go to the auto parts store. pick the one that looks good.

Mine has a 1/2 hp Sears drillpress motor. perfectly adequate for any elevation angle where bales don't slide off.
Be sure you have a good v-belt, properly tensioned.

3/4 hp. motor, 1 and 1/2" pulley. Make sure the pulley is same width as big pulley. You do not need the manual for a bale elevator. Belt tension adjust and conveyor chain tension are the only adjustments
you will need to make and I gotta believe you can figure out how to make those adjustments just by looking at it.

Ours was a 32' TSC model and never came with any papers, and 1/2 was plenty for anything we could do with it. We had the transport truck as well. That is 4 sections. With only 2 for 16" no reason a 1/4 horse will not handle it. Pulley size will depend on if you have a 1725 RPM motor or a 3450 RPM motor.

Pretty sure you have a Mayrath hay elevator. They were made in Compton Illinois. Your pictures also look like a Mayrath elevator I had several years ago.
To get information about it, check with Hutchison/Mayrath, a Division of TIC United. I ran my 16 foot one with a 1/2 hp motor.

I sure wouldn't swear by it on the Bible, but I thought that was a 1/4 horse that we ran ours with. It sure wasn't very big. We never put more than about three bales at a time on it. The guy in the mow couldn't take them any faster than that anyway.
