Long ways to go

Got most of the corn done before the rains came.

Left 2 acres that were kinda wet. Shoulda left more, that's all under water.

See some sheet erosion, and lots of ponds in the fields. Highs haven't quite been 50 degrees, so nothing growing or drying.

Will be replanting some I'm sure, bee a week or two to see what dries out, what grows.

All the beans left to go. Basically 2 large fields. One should be 90% good once things dry down, got a lot of tile there the past decade.

The other field am waiting on the tile crew to get here. I think that will be a long wait. I bet they are way behind; and that field is so wet it will be weeks until it dries anyhow, so I will just keep waiting.

4.45 inch of rain in the past week, the heaviest of it came in about 15 minutes over 2 inches. Saturday was an all day soaker, so the best of both worlds, drown the low spots with a heavy downpour, then get the high spots all soaked up with a soaker.

Still drizzling out this afternoon yet.

Huh, pic upload not working out for me today. Well, just imagine a lot of water, and you got it.....

I'm just about half way. With the rain that came yesterday and overnight,it looked like I might be able to get back out there tomorrow if the sun came out,but then when the radar looked fairly clear this morning, more blew up and it looks like it probably shut me down. They're saying rain Tuesday and Wednesday too,so with the holiday weekend coming up and company coming from Kentucky, might be a week from Tuesday before I can get back out there.

Might as well pack the missus up and come see us! Could use some help finishing soybeans. You gotta bring some fresh beer, though.

I've got nothing done and there is not much done locally. A good year to have rolling sandy soil.

Pretty much the same here, 90 miles north of you. Been a long time since we had a solid week of mostly slow rain. Re the tiling: we had tile put in when soybeans were small...very little damage with the tile plow. Would still be worth it if he can get there.

Probably what I would bring.

Local brewery that's over 150 years old, they just released this this year. A tiny bit bitter beer, but pretty good. It is made with local grown barley grown down the road a few miles west of me.

So they happened to name the beer after the road I live on! Kinda cool. They wanted to go with local sources, local tie ins as much as they could. Guess they grew 140 acres of barley for their first year of brew. The first run sold out in a couple days.

My wife's brother moved the past week, when the rain came I went up to help for a day. As I mentioned to her I was going, she tweaked/ threw out her back within 5 minutes just getting ready for her work.... We teased her that sympathy back spasms don't count as helping with the move..... So she is kinda hobbling around with her nose to the ground. I don't feel much better, as I was hauling boxes and furniture and assembling stuff from 11:00am to after midnight.

(I had a few Fort Roads when I got home from the move!

Was working some ground Thur. until the storms came through. One field was actually good. Then I got back on the ground today, but probably shouldn't have been.

Hey Paul,
Yea ain't this rain a mess? Hard to believe it was 86 degrees out a week ago...... Did you get a drone? Cool pics, nice and clear. I ain't much of a beer drinker, but since I live on the same road, I might have to try one of those beers....

Looks to be one of 'those' year's again!

Hope someday you will see a tile machine along 'Armins' grove.....

Those confounded flying machines, tech support from DJI is aweful, updates are miserable experiences, but in between its kinda fun to fly over the farm once a week or so and observe things growing or not growing right.

Looks great! I will keep my eyes open for it. Don't usually see many of Schell's varieties here, but I get lucky sometimes. Hope you and yours heal up quick.

Hi, Paul. Hope your planting goes better from here on. We're at 25% corn in, and the hay is really pushing hard. Grapes survived the recent cool nights, but neighbors got frost damage.

Glad to see Shell's is still going strong, bitter beer isn't my favorite. My daughter has decided to attend MLC, so I will be back in New Ulm this Summer, and have a direct pipeline to the whole Shell's line!
