This morning there was an estate sale down the road from us.We snuck over there before the wife went to work.I certainly didn't intend to buy anything, but these hubcaps were on a shelf, all dusty. The owner said he had a 1950 jeepster years ago,and sold it ,He wanted 20 dollars.I told the wife lets take a chance. The red is wore off one of them, and slight rust on two of them but not bad.Whats the best way to find the value of them?

Look on ebay. I searched "jeepster hub caps". There's a bunch of them. One set the guy is asking $575 for the four. Look at the pictures and match yours up. If you have an ebay account , sign in and do an advanced search. This lets you check what items sold for in the completed listings. Instead of asking prices. Looks like you made a nice buy acording to any measure. Glad you found something to do.

I think you could turn a buck or two on them, clean 'em up, do some detailed painting. Lots on eBay, some are pretty pricey. Here's an example below of what's out there ....

The ones from Crazy Horse's post are new reproductions, and are priced EACH! As yours are vintage, you should be able to get a very nice profit on the set. Well done!! These same new ones are also available on this site @ $60/each:

These do, in fact, match the date that your seller mentioned. Use some Never-Dull or other cleaner to get rid of as much rust as possible and list for sale as "Original" and "Vintage". I think if you list too low you won't get much interest as folks may think you bought new ones and distressed them, so I, personally, would not try to add any paint detailing to them.

I would have given 100, I could use them on my Willis daily driver. The two with the red faded could be cut out for the Warn Hubs!! Jim

That's the way to get feeling better out and about doing some wheeling and dealing lol. I have a buddy that buys and sells just for the fun of it, he says ya win a few ya lose a few, puts on a big grin and says I just like to see what stuff will really go for.

I would say you did well on the hub covers the same guy I mentioned had an old Jeep and said it was cool but he wasn't able to practice his buy low sell high program with too many Jeep parts. You sir have the buy low part of them nailed. I specifically remember him finding a bunch of them covers and being too cheap to pull the trigger.

A trick I learned when cleaning chrome is wad up some aluminum foil and use that to take off the rust. It also makes them shine

Kind of reminds me of a sportsmans auction I went to a while back. Winchester model 97 shotgun wasn't getting a bid, I got it for $200 thinking I'd sell it and make some money. Problem is I got attached to it and now it's in my gun safe. Good luck, those hubcaps should sell easy.
