Members on here that have come and gone

The post on JDEMaris below got me to thinking. (That's a bad thing) BUT: Members pop up on here, some disappear, some are only here for a question or two. Some probably had an appointment with the grim reaper!!! Who are some that you miss and have you ever herd from them outside of YT?? Haven't seen John T lately and I miss MIKE WA guess he got canned!!! There was a DAVE 2 that got canned. Any way I try not to get in internet fights with people. Also wondered if they have a board for deceased members even some tractor clubs and organizations due. I miss a lot of the old guys from our tractor club. Can any one add anything?

i chatted with big dean the massey mechanic lots of times even got some computer disc about how to repair certain things on massey ferguson tractors.

El Toro cut his postings back and there was a several week stretch where nothing was heard. I always enjoyed his postings. Then there was Walt from Jackson, TN who used to post pictures from shows on the JD board. Something most likely happened to him. These older guys are treasures and will be missed when they are no longer able to post for whatever reason. The one local tractor club had a fair share of its members pass on in the last few years.

Lavoy , F-I-T , and a guy who's name started with "C"....he was a real expert on 2 cyls.

John T has posted on the IH forum in recent days. If you take the time to look, you will see there is a forum for those who pass on. Unfortunately, informing us is probably the least of the survivors worries...so we do not necessarily know when someone passes on. There are several people who have passed away that I miss. There are others who have left us for reasons of their own. A close knit group on Tales came under attack a couple years back and packed up and moved on...although many of those are still hanging around, providing a good deal of interesting comments. I kinda miss a fella who went by the handle ScottyHomey (or such). Back in the day, I could not thread a needle unless either the needle or thread came with an instruction sheet. Scotty walked me thru a lot of things on and off forum and really gave me a love of repairing things and the satisfaction that comes from doing so. He was not working when I first knew him, then found a job that interested him and gradually disappeared.

I've been on this board for more than 15 years, so I've seen lots of people come and go.

One of the guys who was a stalwart when I got here was "Big Mike" who was involved with the grounds keeping effort at a private, girl's college in Indiana. Not only was he very knowledgeable about the equipment he maintained, he also had a unique ability to "yank the chain" of a bunch of guys on this forum. I just observed from afar and laughed at how upset some guys got at what Mike said. I have always been convinced that he knew exactly what he was doing.

Don't forget Chuck. Chuck435 wasn't it? I think he personally, single handedly got the whole politics and OT forum shut down.

That was a Dave from Germany, I think that got canned. Dick2 is still here. I miss those pictures that Walt from Jackson, Tn would post after he went to the tractor shows too. Also F-I-T. He knew his John Deeres, but think he got ticked at somebody, or something and left.

There was a gal who went by Farmer Dawn that was mostly down in the 9N/2N/8N forum that has been gone for years. I know there are lot of others but off the top of my head can not name them

Gitrib, Mike (WA), Old Roy, Dave the Kraut, Rusted, Lyle the Canukian... I'm sure there are others - just not popping into my mind at the moment.

Don't see too much of Don Jr. either... always enjoyed his humor.

And one who has "gone home", Larry NEIL.

Don't forget the illustrious ? Indy farmer. The guy that put up 5000 bales in one day....then built a tiki bar.

I miss Dave from Germany, he had some great pics about the small farms there.

Big Mike was cool.

I was thinking of buzz man 72 last week, I think he did tile work. Also bendee, railhead and greenbeanman come to mind.

Wardner: Mr ice cream maker and Electrall. His 400 had so many accessories he had to inflate the tires to 30psi. Jim

He was always such a pleasure on Christmas day.

I know several who left over the years, grew tired of being criticized, tired of the constant attacks and the "holier than thou" mentality of many of the posters here. Had a couple of young guys email me a few weeks ago, who use this site for information, and refuse to post because so many here think the younger generation is worthless. On another forum, I use to post n, had a guy there, who used to post here, told me he left because one particular poster just insist on posting his hatred of EVEYTHING every 2 weeks or so.

I'm still here. Rarely post anymore. I'm on Hospice. I'm almost 2 years past the expiration date the doctors gave me. I come over here at least once per day to see Today's Funny. Just got nothing to post lately.

Pooh Bear

I remember after arguing with a guy Dave 2 says "well we could probably sit down and have a beer together" and the guy responds " Yeah, and I could get my brains scooped out so we could have a conversation."

I have not noticed anything from Noncompos aka Bud Tierney
for some time. He must have had 100 years of parts books
and was willing to help people.

The one from across the pond that trimmed hedges. Sam 40. Enjoyed his post's. Liked Harvey 2 also. Like some of the banter back and forth as long as it doesn't get to mean. How neat would it be to see a Blue basket full of turnips at a WaWa in Pa with a Guy from Jersey ??????

There was a young lady, in California I believe, Jennifer 608. Had some serious health problems, guessing she has passed.

Haven't seen Bison on lately either.

I am friends with Walt on FB. He still goes to shows and takes pics. Why he doesn't post them here I have no idea..

I was just thinking yesterday that there used to be a woman from a desert area that used to post. Now that I read your post Steve@Advance, I believe you are correct that it was "Jennifer 608". I do miss the regular posters when they stop for whatever reason.

Lyle got the ol boot early. He does come over to the Block occasionally, and I talk to him on Farcebook. He hasn't changed
much....

Yes, she has/had cancer. She was banned because of some very, very rude comments she made about another posters parents, I think it was. She came back, made a couple of posts and hasn't been back since.

I'm still lurking, Gina. Bit of news- rusted just put Pat in a nursing home- she's going downhill fast. He said last month he didn't think she'd make it to April....

I was racking my brain trying to think of T-Bone. I'm glad you mentioned him. I always looked for his posts as it seemed there was nothing about welding he didn't know. He would always go into such detail in explaining how to do something. He was a great poster on this site and dearly missed, by me anyway. There are many more who have been great over the years and many are still here.
Thanks to you all who are still with us and those who have passed are missed but there are others still with us who have to ability to share their knowledge in a kind way.
Thanks to all,
Dick

Old,

Thanks for remembering her name. She and I exchanged a few dozen e-mails. She was a well educated person, but had a bad luck cloud following her. Last we heard, she and the others she was living with were driven out by wild fires in western Nebraska(??). She loved learning and was willing to get her hands dirty. Last I heard, she had disassembled an 8N and maybe lost that in the fires. I do wish her well!

Then way back in the 1990's there was a guy on here from the Detroit area by the handle "Llamas". He and his wife raised llamas. He knew the N tractors very well. I think he was driven out by some of our then less intelligent and highly judgemental participants. Truely a shame, as he helped a lot of folks.

Some good memories have been created by many of our missing folks.....

Don,

Thanks. Ray P. also posted on Tales that Pat opted to go into a care facility.

Feel so bad for both Jeff and Pat... watched it with my folks and in-laws too. Dang hard to be the one terminally ill and dang hard to be the one left behind after losing someone you love.

Gina

billonthefarm and Wrigley are still around central Illinois.
Cept billonthefarm made the mistake of getting married - Now neither one of them gets to check in!

Another came to mind: KORNFUSED...

not to be confused with Cornfused (whose posts I also enjoyed reading before he passed away).

(quoted from post at 21:02:30 03/20/16) Well no one mentioned "puddles" that guy knew more about welding. Miss his posts over on tool talk.

I was just looking through the posts here to see if anyone had mentioned 'puddles' yet. As you already have I will second what you've posted and add this: It seems that he was an 'older guy' when he was posting and I assume that he has passed away (I could be wrong and will be happy to be corrected). If that IS the case I offer this: May You Rest In Peace, 'Puddles'. You are missed!

Thanks Greg, I dident think I was wrong, but when 3 other people say 608, you start to doubt yourself! Lol

Big Dean helped me a lot also. Really felt empowered when I took his advice. It let me get a lot of things done.

About this site I have been on and off now since 1995. I have got great advice on this site and I have enjoyed reading on what every bodys been up to. Every now and then I might enter some words on some thing I might know about(to help those that I can). I have also found parts for my tractors but what I really like is every body on this site threw the years I have learned alot. It is nice to find a place that I can fit in ( tractor restoration and reconditioning was not so big when I first got started in it) I first started on computers learning (dos comands, than windows 3.0) had a 28 and a 36 on line dail up to. I have seen this site grow and yes I am happy to see where it is today. Thanks for posting this subject.Brent

Haven't seen Bison on lately either.
just popped in tonight thinking i have not checked in lately,..was busy this winter rebuilding a 644H wheel loader and making it bush proof,..big job..left me pooped at night.

Lavoy still posts on occasion. I've swapped several emails with him recently while I was getting a 2-53 blower updated, and rebuilt for one of his restoration projects. Anyways, I can't speak for him, but based on what he's said, he has been busy as a one legged man in a butt kicking contest lately. I can only suppose that's why he's not posting on here more than he is......which has been the reason I'm not here as much as I used to be too.

One I haven't seen mentioned yet, that used to post on occasion, is King of the Obsolete. Can't remember a lot about him other than he lived "up North" where it was cold as heck, and he that had a lot of old equipment he was making a living with it.

Looks like KOO is still at it... had forgotten about him, I used to check out his website quite frquently.
KOO

(quoted from post at 13:29:59 03/20/16) The post on JDEMaris below got me to thinking.

I'm around. Just seem if I don't come to this forum often enough my password stops working. I just re-registered just to post since once again, my former user-name and password stopped working. I'm living in three places. Two in the northern lower peninsula of Michigan (Hawks and Alpena), and one in the eastern UP in Chippewa Township.

I've met two people in this area that use, or know of this forum. I met both at our home-school group where my wife teaches and my 12 year old goes. I guess I "sort of" teach there too. Just got done being a coach for the Science Olympiad.

Dave some posters hang out on certain forums. I rarely go to IHC/Farmall one. Your right on the family if one passes away heck they probably don't know they are even on here. Guess all this internet stuff will be part of settling an estate these days!!! The big kahuna used to be on the cockshutt forum. Like anything people come and go.

Been a long time since I have heard from Harvey 2 He used to give people grief about not saying thank you for responses and not saying where they were from. he also spelled words with a w instead of a v and folks would call him out for it.

I back then talked to her many times on the phone helping her with that 8N. If I remember right she was in Colorado. Last I heard she had moved to AZ but that was the last time I heard form her

One more came to mind... Huskers86.

His son went into the Marines. Hope son is doing well... and Huskers and Mrs. Huskers too.

I remember him, could never tell if he was serious of kidding on the spelling, I do agree that follow up is a good thing.

I agree with what others have said about Clooney, he was a walking encyclopedia on the 2 cylinder Deere tractors and very helpful. I don't know what happened to him.
Another one that I miss is Duane Larson. He was always ready to help me out when I first got into the Deere 2 cylinder tractors and was VERY knowledgeable about the 2 cylinders and was just a nice guy to boot. He compiled all of the 2 cylinder service bulletins in a printed and searchable PDF format (a Huge job) that continues to help many to this day. Duane pasted away a few years ago.
I imagine that both of these guys had to work at not talking over my head back then when they answered my ignorant beginner questions and I'll never forget their help.

I spoke with Clooney last week. He is retired and ok health wise but has went on to pursue other hobbies and activities.
