8n ford tractor starting and running wide open

I have a 52 Ford 8n ford tractor. I can only get the tractor to start by holding the choke open and when it starts it is running full throttle regardless of where u have the throttle set at.I have disconnected the 2 throttle rods to the card and still yet when it starts it is running wide open and still have to keep the choke on. Im lost and needing guidance. Thank u.
 
If you disconnected the governor link from the carb, and held the throttle against the idle stop, and it still ran away...

Sounds like the screws have come out of the throttle plate inside the carb.

Fill in the blanks. What have you to it or did this just happen out of the clear blue??
As Steve has said can happen and if you try to run it with out the gov linkage hooked up and you do not hold the throttle control they do tend to open the carb throttle butterfly on there own and will do just as it is doing.
If you can control engine speed by hand hook up the gov linkage and put the throttle at idle and make sure the carb is sitting at an idle like it should be. If it is not try moving the throttle while watching the linkage and make sure it is moving as it should. The throttle rod may have broke or come off of the gov it self may have gone bad etc.

were correct, that is exactly what the prob was. Thank u for ur help.
