Another use for clear shipping tape.

It was difficult to read pressure on red guage. Cleaning it didn't help that much. Plastic was mared too much. Applied 2 inch shipping tape, good enough for me.

Has anyone tried this?

I used a little piece of crystal-clear packaging tape on my smartphone when the front camera's protective lens somehow got shattered. Beats taking the risk of tearing down the smartphone to do a proper lens replacement (if you've ever tried to disassemble a smartphone you'll know what I mean). It worked fine.

Did a similar fix on a plastic oil pressure gauge face. Worked pretty good.

The only time I do that is on a paint spray tank to keep overspray off the gauge.

At the shop years ago we would wait until one of the mechanics went to the washroom, then before they came out we would put a length of packing tape across the doorframe at forehead height.
Worked every time, the door opened into the washroom so as they would walk out the tape would contact there forehead come off and wrap around there hair.
Will probably have to answer for this some day but sure was good for a laugh at the time.
