Bedliner trailer fenders

Thinking about repainting my tandem axle utility trailer again. Last time I painted it, in a month the paint was chipped off the front of the fenders, this time I'm thinking about using Herculiner for the entire fender, inside and out. Going to have it sand blasted first to get a good surface prep. Anyone used Herculiner on fenders? Thanks.

Don't recall seeing it on a trailer, but I might just follow your lead! Wife repainted our old trailer a couple years back, did some fancy little designs and added a lot of reflector tape. Paint is peeling away and the reflector tape is fading. ...Guess that's why I hate to paint. *lol*

However, I've seen entire vehicles that were coated with bedliner. Have been considering doing the same with our trucks, as we have 20 miles of gravel roads to kick up rocks.

The newest trailer has such flimsy aluminum fenders that a few good coats of bedliner would certainly help them last longer.

I'm not sure how good some of that do it yourself bedliner products will hold up either ? I've seen some in truck beds that was not good at all.

Sandblast, prime then apply undercoating.I used this on mine.Sticky, gooey for awhile but it finally hardened up and holding up well for about 3 years.

see if you have a line-x dealer near you and stop by for a chat. they have a great product line. they can even do linings in color.

I tried to fix a traailer once that had that on it. The fenders were falling off and they asked me to weld them back on. The problem was that the steel fenders had nearly completely rotted away inside the bed liner. The bed liner was there in the shape of the fender, but almost no steel was left inside. These were fully coated on both sides. That was my only experience with that. I did fix them by welding a tab to the trailer and bolting through the bed liner. As far as I know they still have that trailer. No idea if the fenders are still on it.

The problem with most paint jobs is that the surface is not prepared properly for the paint to stick so it comes back off. Take the time to prep and prime and it will last a long time.

Bedliner on front of fenders will stop rock chips, great idea.
