The original subject was "alternator for International 284 diesel 1984".
I realize this is a really old post, but I wanted to share some information I came across. I was able to fit in a Hitachi lr135-95b alternator. The go for around $100 bucks on Amazon and Ebay if you search that number. Mine works well and fits in the brackets on my 284 perfectly.
