trailer house siding is leaking

The siding is vertical. The roof does not have any overhang. There is a top trim piece, directly below the eaves that are horizontal. The joints have come loose and I am going to assume that I may need to loosen some screws and add some type of sealant between the trim pieces and then tighten the fasteners. is there a correct way of doing this and what type of sealant should I try to use?

I loosen nothing but use a stuff called Rubr-coat #57. It is a water based rubber sort of coating that works well and it is thin enough to sort of seep into the areas that need to be sealed up

If reasonable permanence is needed (no worries) use Lexel, or Sika Urethane Door and window sealant. These go on and will be squishy enough to push into gaps. These materials do not shrink, and stretch 200 %. Wear disposable gloves to avoid having week long smudges on your hands. Jim

If all you need is a sealant I would use gutter and flashing caulk. It's pretty messy but you could put masking tape on the trailer to isolate the caulk to the gap. You may have an issue with the framing underneath the trim being rotten enough the screws are not holding the trim down. If that is the case your problem will get bigger and bigger until that is addressed.
