so i was over at rural king and picked up some tomcat for the farm. we had a rogue mouse get in the shop so i hid a few bait chunks behind some cabinets out of the way. well the goofy dog hear at the shop sniffed em out and tried her dangdest (is that a word?) to get at em. kept trying to dig her way back to em. had to remove them from the shop. its a red and white can, here is a pic and of the hound dog here. yeah, i know, got too many tools in the truck. anyhoo, if you use it, be careful so the dogs cant get to it. oh yeah, its not my dog. something must be in the bait that attracts the dog

We have rat poison in the barn. Well hid so no dogs could get to it. But they did ! Bigger dogs a yellow lab and my blue tick on separate occasions. Took them to our old school horse vet and he gave us I believe vitamin k to inject orally. Dogs were fine after a day or two ! That was 5 or 6 years ago.

In town where people put out bait around the house they put the bait in boxes like this to prevent pets from getting into it.

i have used one bite bars, jaguar, and the yellow tomcat and havent seen the attraction like this stuff. i was really suprised.

Those bait boxes are so much of a maze that even a trained lab rat couldn't nagivate it. Another product courtesy of the corporate lawyers. Absolutely innefective. Even getting open to load them can be challenging.

I was plowing snow for a guy and his wife came and said there black lab ate a bunch of rat poison, poor dog, we forced a bag of salt down its throat and it puked all over. The darn dog lived some how.

We have one of those and the rats will go inside and eat the poison before eating grain spilled on the floor. Just give them a little kick before you pick them up to check if it's time for a refill!

Not sure about the real stuff that exterminators use, but what is for sale to the public is relatively safe around pets, according to vets.

It is a vitamin K depleter, which causes internal bleeding. Due to the size difference between a rodent and a dog, a one time dose is not likely to cause problems. Still a good idea to make them throw it up and get to a vet ASAP though.

The best way to use it is put it where pets can't get it, and only put a small amount at each location, just in case they do get to it.

Dogs do love the taste of it though! I had some in a locked closet in the garage several years ago. Went in there for just a second, both dogs went charging in, straight for it! Gulped it down like they were starving! Best I recall it was "Just One Bite" brand, the green pellets.

I called the vet, forced peroxide down them, took them in for a vitamin K shot. They showed no ill effects.

she is cheaper than a roomba vacuum cleaner!!! its one of my techs dog. she comes to work with him every day. she hangs out in the office
with me.

I have been using the Tom Cat bait stations for 8 years and dogs or cats can't get into them. You can put locks on them so kids can't get them open.
