I have 2 John Deere 42 combines how can tell the year they were made one is serial number 524x and the other is 307x one square back one round back thanks Howard

Without doing some checking not sure if 64 was round or square back. I know 63 was a round back and 65 was a square back. So the online parts book should be able to at least tell you what years the round or square were made. The difference between round and square was made all at same time for 40, 42, 45, 55, 65, 95 & 105.

If that x is another number,the 524x is a 65 and the 307x is a 63. The reason I ask about the x is that the 61s started out with a three digit serial number.
