... 18.9% and I don't think it is going to dry much more than that. Rained me out today. Nothing heavy thank heaven, I have mud like I have not seen before except in Spring. I think that night or two where it went down into the teens broke up all the compacted soil on the surface. Anyway, it's not good. I have a field in the back that is high and sandy. Guess I will start there on Friday. If we get even a short dry spell or the weather gets colder I can get to the rest.

I remember one year when it was muddy my dad would get up at 3AM when the ground was froze, pick the wagons full, do the milking, eat breakfast unload the wagons and pick and unload until noon. By then it was getting too greasy. He would take a nap until milking time, do the milking and chores then eat supper and go to bed and start over the next day. One time he took the 4020 with the New Idea picker and wagon and backed it up to another wagon.

I remember in the late 70's I think it was. Dad pulled a New Idea 2 Row picker with an international 666 Gas, & it was chained to a John Deere 60 pulling both. Even at that they pulled the lightest wagon, & could not quite fill it quite fill it full. 100 bushel wagon with maybe 75, or 80 bushel. Remember Dad saying he must be crazy for being out there! I remember the narrow front end of the 60, tires were so caked with mud they made better skids than tires.

If you want a number, cant tell you. Its thick when you get away from the woods. I was doing headland along the trees, so some had no ears at all if the plant even survived the deer. I dont have a clue on yield. Several small fields cut up with tree lines. Rolling with sand here and heavy clay over there. Not tiled. If I can get it off before the critters go too crazy....
