Goodbye, dear Deere.

Now that the cattle are gone, there is no more manure to load or round bales to feed......and thus no loader tractor is needed. So, I decided to sell my 2755, since it will only see about 50 hours of use per year, and I do have a lighter loader on the 2120 that will do. 30 years old and 6000 hours, with 18 years and over 4000 hours of excellent service here, it's gone to a new home. The new owner is a JD collector/ user of sorts, and it will be well cared for. Sad to see it go 😟, but that does free up a bit of shed space for another tractor.

Good bye Deere, and thanks for your service.

I would not mind having that tractor but it is pretty far away and not in the budget for the year.

Parting is such sweet sorrow. Sounds dumb , but I have mourned the selling of every tractor that I every let go down the road. Makes me glad that I didn't have work horses , I have trouble just shipping a cull dairy cow.
Nice looking tractor Ben .

That's for sure ! I worked at a Deere dealer right when the 55 series were coming out. One of the "new improved" features was to be better cold starting. That was true as one winter they went to move the tractors to clear the snow off the lot and the 55 series started and the 50's did not.

It's not just people that miss their tractors. Our farm was sold to a big operator except for the buildings where I still live. Our main tractor was a John Deere 1830 that the new owner bought and rebuilt to run augers and a big roller and other chores. He retiled part of the farm and used that tractor and a borrowed small disc to level the new tile lines. When the Deere came around the end of the woodlot at full load the old farm dog lifted his head and let out a full throated howl. I have no idea why and he never reacted when the tractor was back other times but lightly loaded. There must have been something about the sound of the old tractor at full load that he recognized.
