Valve stem came apart

Decided to air up my tires. When I tried to remove the cap the whole stem turned. Tried to unscrew it at the base but it just kinda crumbled in the innards came out. So do I try to take it apart and take the chance of having to put a new tube in or try to silicone this piece back in.

I had one pull out of a rear tire on a Kubota , I think it was smooth though. I put it back in and put a little gear clamp on it and aired it. That was 20 years ago and it is still holding.

Looks to me like you HAD one of these and the nut crumbled and fell off.

Part # is TR CH1. It's called a "tire core housing".

Should be able to get one at a farm supply store or tire shop that works on ag or industrial tires.

I went to one of our tire dealers for a different type and they didn't have new ones but gave me some used ones. Guess i will have to order some or take a trip to town. I will spend more time and gas than it cost.

That's why I keep a couple in stock at the shop. Cal. will eventually eat them up to the point they will come apart.

(quoted from post at 18:20:24 12/26/17) Its called "old style core housing".
Lol. That's what I asked for at the tractor store. Don't think he had heard it called that but he did have them. He called them umbrella style. I bought four and destroyed two but it's fixed and I still have a spare.

I just replaced both of those on my Kubota rear loaded tires. The dealer wanted $12.00 each, I got them from the local Coast Tire shop for nothing.

$6.50 each at the tractor store. $2.90 each online plus $10 shipping. Probably could've got them for free at tire shop if I got the right guy. I don't really like people giving me stuff when it's not theirs to give. Tractor store was closest and he understood what I needed over the phone and had them in stock. He owns it and I prefer to give my business to him. Thank you all for the help.
