Wouldn't you know it. No start Ford 841S

So I figured it was as warm as it was going to get today. So I went out to try to start the Ford 841S so I could set out a bale of hay. Has not gotten above freezing here for a week or so but is today with maybe 38 degrees. Added some gas to be sure it had enough turn the gas on and tried to start it but before it would even think about hitting the battery said charge me. So I have the charger on it right now and will go out I nan hour or so and give it another try. Hope it does fire up because the weather guessers are saying it is going to get a heck of a lot colder before it gets warmer. Good old global warming LOL

You are just 30 degrees warmer than we are. It is 8 above right now, and will get much colder. High for tomorrow is forcast at -5 and night time temps close to -20, or -25. I will have to do snow removal tomorrow for my daughter and her neighbor lady, otherwise I don't go out much in this kind of weather.

It's definitely a substantial cold snap here this week. I've kept my wood stove going 24 hours a day since last weekend at least, adding wood as soon as I get up, noon time while home from work and when I get home, then before turning in for the night. I've saved up oak for weather like this, some of it from '09 in my shed, as well as larger blocks of other hardwood that will leave a coal bed long enough to ignite the next round of wood.

I've got the 4630 ford inside the heated garage, rear blade on, ready for snow. It will start without the thermo-start in the mid 20's but in these temperatures hovering at 0 all night, sure makes a difference to have it inside. I'm sure this is mild weather compared to what those on our northern border deal with, but it's been awhile since we've had temps like these settle in for an extended period of time.

My LP powered 850 would never start in this weather, I would have to do the same and charge the battery + tent it off and use the LP dynaglow heater to warm it up enough. It was -7 here yesterday. Insects apparently adjust to the climate, we've had some mild winters recently. Maybe its been cold enough to be lower than what they can tolerate and it kills off a bunch of the ticks and other annoying ones.

Ya, thought I better start my Super C, last time it ran was when I changed the oil about 2 1/2 months ago, twelve degrees today is a warm spell lately. Took every thing the battery had but did come to life on it's own.

Did not have any trouble starting my Ford 860 Christmas morning, in t with 15* outside. I put the battery charger on the nite before to make sure the battery was warm when I went to start it. I was going to clean my drive off, had 7 to 8 inches of snow. But said heck with it, as everyone that was coming for dinner had 4 wheel drives. And it was suppose to warm up later in the week.

-7 here about an hour ago. Thought about putting the heater on my 641 in the morning but don't think I will. If there's and ice in the any sensitive places, it could be trouble.

Logger buddy is coming with the loader in the morning. I'll watch.

After I had the charger on it for an hour I went out and it pretty much started like it should have. Since I was already out I figured I would try to start 2 other tractors. The 8N would not fire up but I did not really try all that hard with it. Bu the IH584 diesel with out any aids started right up

Now I remembered that while I fed the chickens, I got distracted and didn't gather eggs...they'll be frozen in the morning.

For what it's worth, my main hay feeding it's-gotta-start tractor (Massey 398) has an onboard Schumacher battery maintainer on it. Use the Harbor freight $5.99-on-sale float chargers on the backup feeding tractor (Ford 5000) and the 12v converted 8N. Never had a problem getting any of them started with the batteries topped off.

The freezing rain has started here about 5:00pm,maybe I should see if the Lincoln will start.

Sold out of hay today 4x5 bales. I had Howes snake oil in it. About 10 times dose. Little JD fired right up. Just heated it for 45 seconds. It's 8 years old.

gotta fire up the 860 tomorrow and cut some fire wood with the buzz saw. Maybe the snow will be all gone, as it has been raining all day @ 35 degrees and suppose to be the same all nite. I need to put the 1010 motor together, just been to durn cold, no heat in shop!!! Have all the parts, just waiting for little warmer weather.

I had to grind feed today. I keep the mixer hooked to my old Farmall M full time. She wouldn't even think about rolling over fast enough this morning. I had to pull it to get it started. She popped right off but it might be time for a new battery with more CCA's and rebuild that old starter. This is the first time it hasn't started itself in its time on this farm. It used to get used everyday back when I started farming and it was my loader tractor. Seems like eons ago.

Amazingly, the '35 Chevy grain truck parked in front of it started. That six volt battery is only a year old do she's got lots of life left.

Old, I had the same thought about the weather forecast. I had three tractors out lighted up for Christmas. Today was the best chance of them starting. I guess they were ready to go inside, they all started. A 1927 2Ton caterpillar, a 1930 21-32 Twin City and a 1921 20-35 Twin City. No batteries involved.
