Does anyone else on the site have an MF 135,,or a story or memory to share?

in January of 2015 my neighbor passed at the age of 97 , after his passing the family
informed me the week before he passed away he ask them to make sure that I got this 135
perkins gas that he purchased new, this is how I found it in the barn.

I have my dads 135 gas that he also bought new in 1971, I sitting in the shed waiting for new life as it has set for more than 10 years. when I was a kid there is a lot of memory's of the hot summer days baling hay. it will get a go going over in the next few years and will pass it down to my oldest son.

My first tractor was a MF135. It was a great tractor except the clutch was a killer. Moving apple bins in the orchard just about crippled my wife. Traded it and got a JD 1020 with a loader. Another tough tractor. Traded it for a 1630. It has done a lot of work.

All through high school I worked for a dairy farmer,
and he had a 135 MF gas , with a under slung
exhaust, and a Allide loader. I put many many hours
on that tractor loading manure, and cleaning out
heifer barns. Boss thought we needed to pull the
loader off for the summer, and use the 135 while
making hay. He thought I was running too many
hours on his newer 165, and the old 135 just sat in
the shed unused. The 135 was from around 1966
and didn?t have power steering, and was a bear to
drive with the loader on, not too bad without the
loader. Anyhow it was not a nice tractor to bale hay
with like the 165 was, clutch was too stiff, and that
darn under slung exhaust would catch a windrow of
hay on fire, so I really had to watch. I did have
things on fire a couple times, scared the heck out of
me, but I got them out.

That's nice Larry.
I still think about the Jetsons when I see the
styling on one of those.
Not a 135 but I spent half a summer on a 35
Deluxe gasser running a rotovator when I was a
kid.
Boy that was boring!

I have two of the MF 135?s. One is diesel and one 3 cylinder gas. Both have been great tractors and are still in use on the farm. I also have
the toy model that you have pictured.

I have my Dad's 1968 MF 135 diesel. After he passed had to get it going again as it had sat for about 10 years or so. Runs good now.

For a story about be driving it. Dad and I were building a road off the really steep hill by the house to the lower 20 as my uncle had fenced the old road off (really po'd a lot of the family). HE was running the backhoe digging and I was grading the rough road with the rear angle blade. In the soft dirt/clay the right side tires slid off on the downhill side almost toppling the tractor over. We got it out but I think there was a perm pinch mark in the cushion until the day it finally got thrown out. All happened to fast for me to make brown....

First Tractor I ever bought was a MF135. Very similar to the one pictured below. I think it is an early 70's model. Perkins 3 cyl. gas, Flat top fenders.
Had a loader and home made cab. Removed both of those. Still think it is the most expensive piece of machinery that I own as I farm will all old stuff.

My dad bought a MF135 diesel when I left home to go to school. I thought it was a great little tractor. It spun a rod bearing and sits in his garage in pieces right now. Maybe a project one day.

My Dad bought this one in 1972, paid extra to have them bring it Mothers Day morning as a joke, my Mom wasn't impressed!
I however was, mowed, raked and plowed with this ole girl until my parents sold their home place and moved to the mountains
I always wanted it and had a real good idea of where the guy lived that bought it. About 15 years ago I was riding around up in that area and decided to just look around and see if I happened to see it. I had no luck for several times. I stopped in to a little farm store in that area one day and just asked the owner if he knew anyone with a 135 right around there, he knew of two, and told me where they were. I road by the first and it wasn't it, but as I came up to the second I saw it sitting by the drive and saw the bent left radius rod that I hit a hole with. I knew I had found her! I knocked on the door and an older lady came out and I told her
that it was the tractor I grew up on and would they mind if I looked at it. She told me to go ahead and that her husband would be home shortly and we could talk about it's story. When he got home and got out of his truck I could tell that he was much older and doing poorly. I entertained him with stories of how each dent and
repair had happened and we had a good time. I asked if he would sell it back to me when he ever no longer needed it and he said he'd think about it when the time came.
I left my name and number with him and figured I'd never hear from him. About a year later I got a call from the lady and she asked if I was still interested in buying the 135, I said I'd like to if i could afford the price. She asked that come up and talk, I found that he had passed and told he before he died to be sure I got a chance to get it back before she sold it to anyone else. She made me a very fair price and needless to say she's back home to stay. I have newer bigger tractors, but I just love working with this one better than any of them. I have a soft spot for tractors and family things, so a few years ago I tracked down and bought the wife's Dad's/Grand-Dad's 35 Deluxe that's parked beside it. Sometimes it's had to believe their 45 & 60 years old!
