Mackinac Bridge crossing advice

My Uncle asked me to do the Mackinac Bridge crossing with him this year. We have never gone before, and I have read everything on the web
site for the crossing. My question is does anyone have a recommendation for a club to join. I live in Ohio, and my Uncle lives in northern
Kentucky. It seems like all of the clubs are in Michigan, and I was hoping someone knew which was a good one to join. Also does anyone have
any hotel recommendations in St Ignace? I?m not so concerned about price I just want a good clean place to stay. We are looking forward to
making this crossing together, and I just want to make sure we do things right. Any advice is welcomed!

I told my wife to look out the side window and down, as I slightly swerved the vehicle to her side. I still have to sleep on the couch if the event is discussed.

Have been across a couple of times on the motorcycle, there is always construction and it is usually on the paved side so you get to ride on the grate side that is open to the bottom, great fun and an amazing structure, hope you enjoy it.

I know a guy from Wisconsin who signed up to go in 2017. He joined a club in Michigan, I believe Upper Michigan but I don't know the name of the club, but the guy said that the club does a lot of that for far away people. He ended up not going as something came up. He is talking again about this year though.

Heart of Michigan Antique Tractor Club is who I joined up with in 2016. Crossed the bridge twice so far, and planning again this year. You could join us and drive the 250 mile two and 1/2 day to the staging area. I enjoy that as much as the crossing.

your best start is to call owosso tractor parts. they are in charge of the event . done it twice and going again this . lot's of fun

This will be my 10th year, went on the first one because I thought it would never happen again. Each year gets bigger and better. I already sent my application in for this year. It's like being hooked on meth, you can't quit. Motels in St. Ignace can be a bit pricey, look around.

Contact Bob or any of them at Owosso tractor parts. There was a club from OH that crossed last year they can tell you who it was.
I've been going for 9 years and this will be my 10th. Hauled tractors up there for all those years too. Will miss that this year. Used to haul 4 loads each year to it. This year will just be hauling mine up. Will be quite a change for me.

Investigators claim it was a gust of wind that blew that Hugo off with the girl inside. She was driving over the grates when it happened. Must of been once heck of a ride.

I got stuck right in the middle of it last year in my truck, by accident. I cross the bridge near every week in the summer and had forgotten about the crossing. Took me forever to get across and one guy on a tractor almost crashed into me. You could not pay me enough to get involved in the event - but it was fun to see for a short time. Nice weather last year. That is the key. If the wind comes up, it could be miserable.

Join something quick. We had a tractor club meeting last night. A representative of OTP was there and gave a talk about it. The cut off is at 1500 registrations this year. As soon as the 1500th applications is turned in,that's it,no more will be taken.
Just make sure you join a club that's doing the crossing this year. Distance isn't a thing, there were clubs there last year from as far away as Texas and California.
Ours is making the crossing. If you want to join,we'll take your $20 dues. We have a website oldirontractor dot com

Oh, goodness. I did the same thing going up Pike's Peak on our honeymoon. The road was gravel then and we had a 8mm movie camera-I told her to look out the Mustang's window to film the view; I got close enough for her to film gravel breaking loose and going down the mountain. Thankfully, I was NOT consigned to the couch.
