Can someone tell me if this tractor has a fuse panel? I replaced the instrument panel yesterday. The tachometer cable, small short one in the motor was broke. I have no power on any bulbs on the panel, bulbs all check good. Also, the temp gauge and fuel gauge are not working. Since most everything isn't working leads me to believe blown fuses, but unable to locate them. Thanks, also, any links on step by step troubleshooting the electrical system would be invaluable. :?: :?: [/quote]

I am thinking more along the lines of lost ground,to the panel, since so many things are not working. Mark.

Yep, first thing to check.

Thanks Mark and others,
I agree a bad ground would cause those issues. My cousin is going to get our local dealer to print out the electrical system diagrams. We have 4 tractors and are just trying to get all the panels at 100%.

The tachometer started jumping today, which means it's binding somehow. Anyone know if whatever the small 4.5 inch tach cable goes into, if I should be able to actually move that part up and down with the cable?? I could. Or, we may need to grind a bit off the end which goes into the panel. I will post when that is repaired.

Thanks again
Bob

RobertF33,
Previous owner of my 3600 did a nice job of restoring it. But... the tach didn't work. I found the short flexible cable that inserts into the oil pump to drive the tach cable was destroyed. Thought "no big deal". Just bought a new one. Lasted a few days. Bought a couple more and first one lasted a few days of running time. Don't know how long the second one lasted. I just gave up and run it now w/o a tach. Would like to know why those darn things don't last. Anyone else have that problem?

Normally when the short cable starts breaking the long one is binding up and usually has a bad place in the housing.
Replace the long cable and housing as an assembly.

The short cable on my 6610 broke last year, I replaced it and it broke again during the winter, a few times before it broke again I'd here it squeal in the dash, picked up a new long cable and housing but haven't got them installed yet.
