Yesterday's tractor and car show

I got five of the ten Olivers cleaned up and took them to town yesterday for the Sheridan Springfest Car and Tractor Show. Pretty decent turnout for an afternoon event. I took both 500s,the Super 55,66 and 1550. There were a LOT of cars.

There were several club members camped out at the neighbor's right up the road. We had a potluck supper in his shop after the show. Good big turnout for that too. We're having another one tonight after the tractor drive with an auction after supper to raise money for the fund to send cards and flowers to members who are under the weather.

It sure was a cluster situation getting all five tractors home after the show yesterday. The boys helped me drive them down and we did it in two trips. The show was supposed to go until 6pm,so I told them to be back there at 5:30 to start bringing them home. It was hotter than all get out so they decided to call it quits at 5. They told us that at about 4:45,so I headed home on the 1550. The wife was parked at the other end of Main Street at our son's house and had left ten minutes or so before they decided to end early.

I got home and she wasn't here. Great. After ten minutes or so,she came home on the back of a Massey Harris. She had given me the keys to her car and we both forgot. So,back to town with my pickup. One of the boys was there waiting,so we brought two more home. We got behind some slow tractors and it took forever and a day to get home. We went back and got the last ones, then I had to take him home and get the wife's car. When I got home, the other boy was here waiting, but, too late now. On the bright side,we had the sloppy joes,so they didn't eat without us,but Jill called while we were carrying things out the door and wanted to know where the food was.

Oh well,if things went smooth, nobody would have any good stories. LOL

Nice!! That's cool you can bring tractors to your car shows. Looked like a good turn out of the correct color green tractors. Is that your 145? Of course the best made plans never really work out, oh well like you say you would not have a story to tell.

No,I sure wish it was. It belonged to a member who passed away last fall, along with the 880 that's pictured and a 60 that was there. He had 60 tractors or more. His family and friends are still getting some of them out to the shows. Nobody knows yet what their plans are for them.

We're dealing with a lot of heat, but that's what it's gonna take to dry things out from last weekend. I went out at ten last night to check and see why the cows were carrying on so bad. It looked like fireworks off to the east. Huge thunderhead with constant lightening. I checked the radar when I got back in and the storm was over a hundred miles away. I don't know how much rain they got,but it sure was a light show.

Like to see the muscle cars from back in the day along side the tractors. Some clubs do not think they mix but I sure think they do. Looks like it was a great day for everyone.

Atleast they are still getting the tractors out and carrying on his legacy. Maybe an auction someday, give us a reason to take a ride!! Lol

There was a major storm that moved thru the Ohio Valley with tornado warnings. Seen it on the radar yesterday. We are camping this weekend on the NY-PA border had t-storms move thru last night.

I told some of them that my 500 Orchard was an Oliver rat rod. They got a kick out of that. I should have gotten some better pictures of the Bob Witzel's twin engine dragsters. He builds stuff that EJ Potter would be envious of. lol

she came home on the back of a Massey Harris.

Thats my problem having Masseys, got to fight the women off with a stick! LOL

Great show y'all had! I love the fact that it's right there in town instead of a park somewhere out of the way. There is one show that we go to that has automobiles and tractors. Sure draw a bigger crowd that way.

No problem. Just got back from the second club potluck and auction. She donated a dozen tomato plants. They brought $5 each. I bought her a new pair of sneakers and a jar of homemade raspberry jam for myself. It's been a fun weekend so far.

what the hey why can't cars and tractors mix they both have their places cars won't work out very well in hay or corn field tractors don't make very good parts chasers or to take your best friend male or female out for a night on the town
