The Wife bought me an Operator?s Manual for the new to me J/D 5203 for an early Father?s Day gift. She got it off Amazon and it was advertised as ?New?. Well it is new but looks like is was printed on a cheap copier with a weak toner cartridge. It will work but guess I should have ordered up from local J/D dealership.

Contact Amazon. If it didn't say anywhere that it was a reproduction, then that's selling a false product. Also write a review about what you received.

That's pretty standard buying manuals. Some take the time to have some sort of binding. They are "new" technically, but it should say reprint. I have a nice library of photo copied manuals I've paid good money for. I get over it though, I'm paying for the information more than the presentation. Most of the OEMs keep the copy rights up to date and if they even offer new printing they charge significantly more. Complain too loud and the questionably legal options may go away.

Reviewed ad on Amazon says brand new OEM, no mention of reprint. Shows picture of standard type of J/D manual. Should have read reviews, that?s where others complaind about reprinted version. My bad, live and learn. Not worth the $62.00 price.

Likely cost more than from JD.
I bet JD would like to know someone is knocking off their manuals ! They will defend the copyrights !

You can buy a original factory manual on eBay cheaper than anywhere the Deere manuals are a reprint and the worse thing about them is the cover has a giant square hole in it that tears when you use it

If you do like it, return it to Amazon.
And if they balk to do so, point out to them the many complaints in their reviews where they also received copies and the ad claims them to be originals.

Definitely false advertising. Report it to Amazon and get them kicked off as a seller.

Folks can write all the bad reviews they want, but unless people bring it to Amazon's attention, nothing will ever get done. Is that way with pretty much anything.

Be careful with legit reprinters too. I bought a shop manual for my 4020. Couple months later i finally needed it. It was an old revision and only good for the 4010.

From now on I think I'll get them from Deere.
