How warm should the bearings on the crank assembly get after running? When I finished cutting hay the other day it was HOT! The bearings between the belt pulley and the swaybar where hot enough to make water steam. I took it apart figuring I had the nut too tight. I replaced the rear seat and the bearings did not have any color change to them. I kept the bearings and put the packing nut looser. Now I ran it for about 15 minutes test and it is warm to almost uncomfortable. I listened the nut even more to the point that that it is looser than fenger tight. It still is getting warm.
Is this just the nature of the beast. I have had this mower for a couple of years and just must have never paid too much attention to the temperature of those bearings before.
And they do have plenty of grease.
