Wet cell phone

I've been able to rescue a few over the years by turning them off right away, opening them up and removing batteries/cards etc and drying them slowly on a cookie sheet on the lowest setting in the oven.

Don't heat the battery if you can help it.
If you can't remove the battery use a lamp light with a 60-100w bulb and warm it overnight or till the moisture is gone.

Then attempt to recharge after it is cool and then power up.

The key is not TOO hot. I try to keep it to where I can pick it up and hold it without having to set it down.

I like the idea of rice. Haven't tried that one yet myself but might next time.

Good luck,

Carl

Put phone in direct sunlight.

If you have phone case, lose it.

I carry my phone in baggie to keep sweat away from it.

(quoted from post at 23:39:47 07/16/18) threw mine in a bag of rice, then threw them both away. Some can't be saved.

I guess this is one vote against rice.

Placing it in the sunlight sounds like the best solution. Time and moderate temperature.

Good to see you back, George.

My youngest daughter had a tendency to drop her's in puddles. I kept telling her she was a little old to be splashing in them. Anyway over the course of a couple of years she saved her phone with rice.

check with your provider- our local Verizon store has an oven set-up to rescue them. they said most important was DO NOT TURN IT ON OR CHARGE IT. It shut off to protect itself, get it dried out first. Most people, myself included, try to turn it back on first thing, usually shorting something out. Last time I dropped mine in the loader bucket, into a small puddle of chainsaw gas, it was done. I replaced it with a Kyocera armored model, has been bulletproof for four years or more.

Rice is the one Ive used but you have to do it right away.. Course I dropped mine in the toilet..WHAT!! it happens.

One time, when I dropped it in the sink, I put my phone in our dehydrator for a couple of days, and it dried it out real nice, the phone worked perfectly afterward.

I was working or an electricial company. The owner was a know it all and a jerk. We were ruling conduit and came to a ditch full of water. The boss was leaned over and his high dollar do every thing cell phone fell into the water. He grabbed it and hauled but to the cell provider and came back with an identical phone. He went back to the ditch and leaned over again and splash went the new phone. With a lot of cursing he pulled that one out and left. Didn’t see him again that day! Not too long after that I had enough of him and went to his office to give my notice, he skid before I could say a word he told me that he had to lay me off. I went to the employment office and collected unemployment office and got six months of unemployment payments.

I?m afraid 😱 this one is toasted been in rice over night and it?s still dead it was on then it shut off which leads me to believe it might done for
