Massey: no brakes

A friend said the last time he backed his Model 1085(I think) out of the shed there were no brakes. Looking for clues or advice on what to look for please.

Need more info, early used dry disc brakes, late used wet disc brakes. If it has dry disc, and oily there will be no brakes..

I have no idea till I see the machine. Was hoping to find any manual/help before I meet him and the tractor. I will keep looking. Thanks.

8/14/18: Finally got the correct model #. It is a Massey 4253. It had great brakes. Backed out of the shed a month later and the pedals went to the floor. No brakes at all. Is there a place to look for a fluid level? Nothing is found on the floor of the shed.
