I want to thank those that have responded to my post. Like I said, I'm a newbie and your help and input is greatly appreciated! Well I have ordered some new parts for my Ferguson TO30 to get it in a little better condition and currently I'm working on the PTO shaft seal replacement. I'm considering replacing the bearing as well since I have it apart. I'll be changing out all the fluids along with a radiator flush, new hoses and thermostat, new alternator belt, complete tune up and some odds and ends. I installed the new exhaust last week that I purchased from Yesterday's Tractors.

Thanks again all!

Never good to just start replacing parts just for the sake of replacing parts. Most of the time when a person does that they cause them self's more trouble then they ever fix.

Here is an example. I have a 8N ford with a back hoe. Back when my dad got it he said we needed to replace some hyd hoses that looked bad. Well that was 20 plus years ago and some of those hoses are still on the machine and have never leaked. No reason to throw news parts at something that is work just fine as it is. Another example is my W Speed Patrol which is a road grader. I was told over 20 years ago I needed the replace the 2 rear tires. Well last year I did have to replace on because it went bad. But the other one is still doing just fine. I have gad a set of spare tire for it for 20 years also.

HEY OLD we use to call them airplane mechanics just replace parts never diagnose a problem 😭 LOL

Sadly to many now days think thing need to be replaced just because they look an are old. But I think a lot of that goes to the fact many just throw things away because they are old. The throw away society causes a lot of problems and the land fills show that

Preventative maintenance can be a good thing but many go to the extreme and replace thing just because there old. Many things I have seen people replace where not bad and the new parts ended up causing more problems then they ever fixed. When I was in the Navy I learned the PMS thing as in preventative maintenance schedule which was a thing we did every so many hours of uses but many time if it was not broken we did not fix we just kept an eye on it

Well in the electronics that I worked on parts changing a lot of times was not a good option since we had very limited number of parts on hand. Not good to change out a circuit board just because you saw something a bit out of place or odd since it could in fact be something other then that board and if you change it out and the problem was still there you ended up checking and double checking an a lot of times not finding the problem.
