Shenniu 254 Hardy diesel

Good Morning All,
Came across this tractor with 45 actual hours on it. Original owner says it wasn't running well and he parked it 12 years ago. Replaced filters and fresh fuel. Starts but has no power. Exhaust pipe gets cherry red pretty quick. Any guidance/suggestions truly appreciated.

Since diesels have no electrical system to go haywire, pretty much has to be injector pump, or the supply of fuel to it. Check fuel supply first, then maybe you can get one of the injector pump guys on here to help. Not sure if any of them has the motto "If we can pronounce it, we can fix it."

If it were a gas engine, I would suspect retarded ignition timing.

Not sure if diesel would react the same way, but maybe the pump timing is off?

With exhaust getting red hot and no power that is symptoms of blockage in the exhaust.

I was surprised it doesn't show up in Tractor Data. Most of the google hits I read say they're a pretty good little tractor

Retarded timing on diesels will make a lot of exhaust heat, just like gas engines.
