Seams no matter what comes up as a question someone has an answer tractor or other. I need a 90 pound transmission shipped from New York to San Diego (close to me)I got a price from UPS for 170.00 which was I thought high. Any suggestions. Stan

I would have my card out so fast 170.00 all the way across country for a transmission does not seam steep , just my 2 cents

There's an online shipping company headquarted in the Midwest that ships more reasonable. Can't remember the name but I've used them a few times.

Fiat cnh charges me 30$ to ship a plow share from Portland to Pocatello Idaho and it takes 4 days . I think you got a cheap price better hurry and lock it in before they realize they screwed up

That actually sounds pretty reasonable.
Try Greyhound.
Last year Fastenal told me they wouldn't ship to CA.

I shipped a pedal tractor to the San Francisco area last spring from Illinois using Fastenal. I use Fastenal frequently when I have larger
things to ship.

Sounds pretty good to me for a cross country trek. Are you having it shipped to a terminal whereby you go and pick it up?

as others have said.
that's not unreasonable. figure it will probably be a skid shippment and at 90lbs too heavy to go otherwise. are you shipping it to your house? do you have a loading dock/fork lift? if to residential it will cost more $$ if tailgate shippment it will cost more $$ too.

have you tried XPO? not sure if they are in CA or not. Got one thing from them and picked up at their depot and saved the residential fee. they were very good to work with .. at least our local depot is.

I have used Fastenal a couple of times.
First time was very reasonable second time not so much.
One thing to consider is that your shipment with Fastenal is at their leisure.
Your stuff goes if there is room in the truck after their stuff.
So it might sit in a depot or three for a while before it gets to your local store.
I am lucky in that our local store is kinda not busy at times. The guys there will help with getting stuff crated/palletized if you slip them a few bucks or bring them pizza for lunch, etc.
