Of paper were consumed today as we placed our little black dots on these rather big paper ballots. What happens to all of them after the elections are over???
Sounds like a good topic for Science Channel's "How it's Made" or better yet a new show- "How it's Recycled"

I think they have to be held for several years in case things are contested, at least here in Ohio. Should be able to just have the voteing line, not the complete text on every item. Just a postcard size would hold all the important parts and would not need rooms after rooms to hold the complete ballots

Paper here in Maryland. Huge piece about size of a small poster. Nice thick card stock, too. Serious ballot, nothing understated about it.

In WA state you have a ballot, an envelope to seal it in, and another envelope to sign and put the first envelope in....but still nothing compared to all the mailings we got from the candidates. I believe the only winners in an election are the printers, newspapers and radio stations....

Old Cuomo was on a roll last night on TV. You would think our state would have something more modern to vote with than that heavy paper.

Joe, here in Ohio the only computor is the one to read the little oval filled in with a dark pencile or now pen. Ballot is about 8.5" x 15" with information on both sides. And I hate touch screens on anything, usually don't work.

Our little polling place used to have touch screen machines , but then they went back to paper you darken the little circles for some reason ?

Would you feel better with a computer screen that can easily be hacked and have you vote go to someone you don't support? I'd just as soon have the old manual machines back that used the punch cards.

I love NY paper ballot system. There is now a tangible object that can be accounted for. The new ways are not always the best. How many of you guys come on here bithchin about computer controlled tractors and trucks and washing machines? About how they are fickle undependable and can't be counted on, will never last long enough to become a classic. But when it come down to something that really counts, all of a sudden Old School is bad, we want imaginary electrons that exist for a nanosecond recording our decision.

I remember a story about NASA spending millions of dollars designing a pen that could be pressurized to work in space. The Russians gave their astronauts a pencil!
