Sticky latch on car doors

Had some cool damp weather the last few days, overnight lows down to about 10degrees, anyway door latchs on two different vehicles are sticking open, slam the door and it doesn't latch. I tried a little seafoam deep creep in the one the other day, but it hasn't solved the problem. Anybody got any favourite fixes?

It may have gotten water in the latch and froze. Use a hair dryer to dry the water out of it and squirt some WD-40 on it.

silicone spray.

things like door latches are not good places to use any type of petroleum lubricant. oils will attract dirt and dust and then dry and harden.

I'll second WD-40. After it displaces the moisture it will evaporate and not attract dust.

here at the shop we use wurth hhs2000 on door latches and hood and trunk latches. it is an adhesive penetrating lubricant.

Any Petroleum Distillate lubricant will attract dust & dirt and get gummy . Best to wash the latches off with Brake Clean and apply a "Dry Film" lubricant such as spray-on Graphite . Works good . - ps: I used to manufacture the stuff many, many years ago for a company called Drilube in Glendale, California .
