So a customer brought me this engine to get running. When he brought it it didn?t have a magneto on it. The first mag he brought was wrong. After a few calls to mag shops we found one that should work. The problem is the gear is not correct. Would somebody have a parts break down to tell what gear I need on this engine?
 
The VE- VF and VP4D either use Wico or FM mag and for the VP4d you will need gear # GD103 which is 27 teeth the VE and VF uses gear of 24 teeth. A mag for a VG4d also uses the same 27 tooth gear.
 
If he needs one, I have a WICO magneto for a Wisconsin V4 (in a Fairbanks Morse box) that I believe is NOS.

VALVES PROBABLY STUCK...TAKE PLUGS OUT, USE SHORT SIDE OF ALLEN WRENCH TO DRIVE THEM...CAM LOBE MUST BE AWAY, USE FIRING ORDER FOR THAT...

Make sure you have the right mag for the VP4D the mag you need runs at crankshaft speed with no reduction.The mags for VE&VF motors are the ones you need by changing drive gear
