At the ear exam

Went to get tested for hearing aids yesterday. The guy found my left ear was much worse than my right. "How come?" he asked.
"I farmed for quite a few years and put up a lot of hay."
"What's that got to do with it?"
"Hay mowers and balers are on the right side of the tractor- you're looking over your right shoulder all the time, so your left ear is turned forward toward the tractor exhaust."
"Makes sense,", said he. "I also see a lot of that in truck drivers- window open, arm out the window, exhaust right in your left ear."

We're getting them for $330 apiece, through AARP Medicare Advantage plan (United Healthcare). Most places want 2 grand apiece, and up. We've got "Option B", no monthly premium. We're sure happy with it.

That does not make any sence as my left ear is the best. And am told it would be very questionable if they would help me if I could afford them that I cannot do. Had some years ago and did nothing for me. And told I have a 60% hearing loss, did not go into if left or right or combined figure.
