BriggsStratton generator question

Does anyone have any experience or educated opinion good or bad on one of these in an 8kw lp standby unit?

What is your question? I install and service. Briggs put their commercial motors in them. I haven?t had any major problems. Run good synthetic oil and make sure they exercise every week and you will be good. If it gets below 40 where you live make sure you install a cold weather kit..

Haha sorry I guess I didn?t actually ask the question,we?re looking to purchase an auto unit for our house and we?re looking for opinions on reliability. There seems to be mixed reviews on generac,it seems people either swear by them or swear at them.

(quoted from post at 18:09:13 01/31/19) This would be a standby unit with auto switch. Also Kohler makes an 8 as well.
we have installed only one 8kw Generac. The man had it for 2 years in the box sitting outside before we installed it?? About once every year or 2 it will not start. On propane. Have changed some parts but usually the plug seems to be the problem? 8kw are one cylinder. 10s thru 22s have 2 cylinders. I like them better. that one unit ruined me on 8s. sorry have no experience with Kohler or Brigs but all seemed to be improved over the last 6 to 8 years.

It?s model number 040351,it?s a single cylinder 8kw. Between it a generac and Kohler the Briggs has the least bad reviews.

I looked at the 8. Looks like a good unit. New design from Briggs from what I see. I don't agree with the 18" clearance. I think you should have a little more. Under stand that it is not for primary power. Use only as a temporary power source. What ten are you looking at. Didn't see anything about a transfer switch.

Im the model number is 040375 on the 10, my electrician friend is pricing this one up too. I made a call to our local Deere dealer,Winco makes standby home units as wellin 8 and 10 kw. The 8 unit used a Brigs 570cc V-twin which most 8?s run a single.
