I ended my subscription with them. Tried for years to be able to sign in online and browse the online files, but could never get it to work. Contacted them several times about it. Never a reply. Finally got fed up!

I like the magazine, but enough is enough.

kcm I?ve tried using any of the online stuff I don?t
really like Lookimg at articles online hurts my eyes
to look at the computer screen that long . I guess
you could print things off if you had a printer but I
like books better anyway

Did not know it still existed. Got it years ago for a time. Most of the ideas to me were way out of common sence line. Some just wierd.

I consider Farm Show magazine and Farm Show subscription nothing but a joke and a waste of money. Anytime I feel down or depressed I get out the Farm Show magazine and do some reading. Takes care of my issues immediately. Anyone notice the magazine never changes regardless of age? Could be new or 20 years old, the articles never change.

I always loved reading the best and worst buys. Most of the time the people were doing completely unrealistic things with the machines and complained when they broke and the company wouldn't stand behind the product. I remember one case where a hobby farmer bought a 706, he complained how it always ground the gears shifting, he had the dealer adjust it but still ground bad. His comment was "You would think that International Harvester would make a kit or something to take care of this issue". Yep, a defunct company should make an update kit for a 50+ year old tractor.

I remember another guy bought a new pickup and drove it through some cornstalks and tore off the air conditioning lines and the mfg wouldn't cover it through warranty. I don't think the entire story was told there. lol

They printed one of my ideas and totally messed it up..."quoted" me, tho I didn"t say it. I demanded a correction, cuz they made me look like a fool. Told them I could submit more but only on condition that I write the text and they use it verbatim. They refused. The way they work is they send you a camera to take pix of the idea, then they do a phone interview and write the text. From their phone conversation, I found out that they really don"t know much about mechanical things.

I agree. I like to sit in the recliner at day's end, fire going and read along with an appropriate beverage. I enjoy all the "stuff" folks create, always an idea I can change around and make work for something or other. I was having trouble with getting a very stuck Gibbs key out of the belt pulley on a Wis air cooled 4 cyl (old combine) Wood lined pulley so heat wasn't much help. There was the slickest idea there for a puller, not to much more than a pipe with the id the same as the shaft, cut a slot in the pipe to go around the key, tack the key to pipe. A large nut was welded to the end of the pipe, and a bolt threaded in that pushed on the shaft. It had to come out.

oldproudvet That is a hood idea a guy could make a variation is that and have the pipe a little bigger so it pushed the pulley or sprocket onto the shaft farther so the key could come out which is how a gib key Is supposed to come out

Those best and worst buys are like watching politics on tv. Someone should have wrote back and told the guy the 706 wasn?t a Deere and the transmission wasn?t synchronized 😂 What would the kit be to fix the 706 an adapter to bolt a John Deere 3020 transmission into it?

Those best buys when I was getting it about something they had for less than a year realy made me angry, wait untill they have it 5 years before it becomes a best buy and not a worst buy as most of the best buys will have become the worst buy. The worst buy will never become the best buy but best a lot of times will become a worst buy. A neighbor several years back had in that his best buy was a 50 year old tractor, a 47 model Silver King tractor that he was still using regular. He got killes 10-15 years back when he got wraped up in mower-conditioner and was not found for 2 days. Coworker when he had not picked up his newspaper for 2 days called sherif because that was not normal. But the best buy when it has been working good for several years then they are something is valid.

Thanks for this! I never liked the writing style and this explains why all the articles have the same annoying style "quotes" I ended my subscription years ago, while there were some good ideas, a lot of:

Joe Smith of Nowhere Nebraska knew he could build something better than Deere, "I know way more than Deere does said Joe", tired of spilling his beer while on antique tractor cruises, "It makes a big mess said Joe" Joe bolted a cup holder removed from an old lawn chair to the fender of his trusty Deere 4020 "It has over 40000 hours and I've never changed the oil and now I don't have to spill anything either"
